Lets have a look at that bridge then.

When I say Apple are a design company, I not only mean the UI. The design is in the entirety, hardware, software, UI, and ulltimately UX.

It's what Apple do, it's what they excel at. Yes, they are very much a company who strive for higher earnings each year, but most companies do. Hell, it wouldn't make sense if they didn't.

So I stand by what I say. Apple are first and foremost a design company. But it's design in its entirety.

I didn't mean just the UI either. The only problem is that by that logic, every company in the segment is first & foremost a design company. They ALL have a design philosophy from the UI to the hardware to the UX. You may not agree with company's X design aesthetics/philosophy but by your logic they are also a design company. That doesn't make Apple all that special then does it?

I see your point, however Apple are still unique in the Industry, due to the fact that they not only have a philosophy, they have total control. There are not many other companies that develop both hardware and software, which is a massive advantage.

iOS 6 - Jobs' Original legacy!

Yes, if Steve Jobs is alive now, the iOS7 change wouldn't have happened!

Apple iOS now wants to look like Android interface - one thing Jobs hated with all his spirit!

Now, the difference between the 5 and 6 series iPhones makes it clear that the current "Apple :apple:Corporation" wants the iPhone, and soon the rest of the Apple products to ape the Android/Google series.

If this trend continues, iPhone 5/5S is the last of Jobs' Apple/Mac division! Does anyone remember the VESA mount's disappearance from the iMac series?

Look at the new Mac mini - it is a joke! As for iPhones and iPads, lookout for the credit card thin versions! Maybe plastic too!

This was the success formula for Bill Gates! Now, Apple is following Samsung, which has already lost the race!

Steve is dead. Nobody knows what he would or would not have done at this point. Move on.

When will Microsoft restore the Windows 95 look?
Considering the crap I deal with with over twenty PCs and two servers on systems from Win2000 to Win 7 Pro and Win SBS 2003 and Win 2012 Server, I would LOVE for MS to go back to the Win95 look.

Simple and eats less ram. And I don't have to deal with the extreme variations of how each version uses Network Places to connect to our servers!

:D

Apple is still alive, so expectations will continue!

Without iTunes and, now, Apple Pay, the company is dead in the software and hardware lines!

Razor edge iMacs with no VESA - why?

I own Apple stocks - that is the least reason to want Apple to do well; I wish to want to own their future hardware!

iOS 8 has more features, so why would you want to go back?

Notification and control centers are indispensable. Widgets are great - I can check them from any app with a swipe. Why would you give this all up?

I agree that the icons are still ugly, but the rest of the OS is beautiful, especially the frosted glass effect. My only serious complaint is the zoom effect. It is too rigid as a navigational system, and way too slow. By rigid, I mean if you open a folder, you cannot access the dock without an extra touch. An effort at a golly gee whiz effect led to bad interface design.

Steve Jobs would have set things straight. He was a master of GUI design.

Anyone think they will restore the (classic) iOS 6 look? Using iOS 7 and 8 after so long is really making me miss it. I really hope they loose the flat look by iOS 9 or 10 and go back to what made the platform so awesome to use... the look. :D

Get out Scott.

The latest iOS (here 8.1 soon) is always the best during any given year, from Apple! They constantly tweak bugs that will always appear with each new release, and are the best at it, because they take responsibility for both hardware and software!

It is not the outdated iOS 6 that people with "nostalgia" want; it is the "iconic" (pun) look that was last seen with it that these people want! Instead, Apple went onto adapt the dull Android look, and "these" people (including me) miss the old appearance of the OS! Instead we have another drone-like iPhone! Apple resisted the call to release a larger screen in the name of the unique "Apple/Jobs standards", until this edition!

The iPhone 6 and 6+ are fantastic products - but the 6 looks like another 'droid phone! The need to be so thin is puzzling; keep the thickness for more battery capacity, it will still be easy to handle!

As for reaching across the screen or double taps - a screen size between 4 and 4.7 inches would be a welcome size next year!

That is why the best looking iPhones ever are the 4S and 5S in order!

I kinda like my iPhone 5. It's black, not Space Gray and it's not a 4s. You know… the forgotten iPhone model between the 4s and 5s?

Yeah that one. The iPhone 5. ;)

It'll eventually happen some day, they'll get tired of the flat look and they'll bring back something more natural
