I, for one, LOVE the look of iOS 6. I just jail broke an old iPhone 4 running 7.1.2 to make it look like iOS 6. I would never jailbreak my 5s to make it look like iOS 6 (not that I dont like iOS 6 on my phone, but Im against jailbreaking on my daily phone) but its cool to look at on an old iPhone.

But lets not forget that iOS 7 in just iOS 6 with a coat of makeup. Its the exact same OS (with some added features) just overhauled. iOS 7 is great, but I would happily go to iOS 6 in a heartbeat. I had iOS 6 on my iPod touch 4g and I absolutely loved it.

But (unless you jailbreak) iOS 6 is gone :(

I wish, would prefer an updated version of it for sure. iOS 7 look still looks amateur to me.

They won't, but I do believe in 3-5 years the 3D look will once again become popular (trend come in cycles). You won't see the same look or extreme skeuomorphism, but I think you'll see more depth.

Pretty much. It's a shame they got rid of that. There's an app, "TapToShare" that brings back that functionality, but it's not as good as it being baked into the OS.

Yea haha I actually made a suggestion on that in the widget thread. Anyhow I've had that and delete it after a week. I didn't like the fact that it opens up the TapToShare app to post anything on fb/twitter.

You mean just changing the app icons via winterboard? or the entire look of the OS even inside apps?

I didn't know you could make the inside of the apps look like iOS 6!!!!! How do I do it?!? Also, is there a way to make the animations like iOS 6 (app launching and when you unlock the phone)?

I don't know as I don't theme my phone at all and was asking you the question silly :p

But I guess I got the answer: just the app icons are skinned to iOS 6 app icons.

Haha looks like I got a little excited! Lol! But yes, I do only have the skin and lock screen :) Im trying to find one to make the iOS 6 animations, but I am having no luck :(

Why not let people decide what look they want in the iphone, exactly as you can change the keyboard look why not let people have the icons and thems they want in the iphone.

Maybe Apple is going to let people have customized designs in ios

Does that sound at all like Apple? Seriously. Never happening. You don't own the software on your phone, you have a non-expiring license to use iOS per Apple's instruction.

Anyone think they will restore the (classic) iOS 6 look? Using iOS 7 and 8 after so long is really making me miss it. I really hope they loose the flat look by iOS 9 or 10 and go back to what made the platform so awesome to use... the look. :D

It was good maybe at the beginning but got so dull and boring! Actually very very boring for me. I hope not to see it again on my iPhone.

Why? It looks better than 7 does.

That's a subjective matter. And adult should know that.

I'm still on ios 5.1 (iphone 4) because of how ugly they've made things since ios 7.
I don't get people who say it was boring. All I know is the thicker fonts and shadows add contrasting tones, making everything read more clearly. And all that excessive use of white is hard on the eyes. And why use all those neon colors as background/accents? Colors that bright next to that much white isn't refreshing, it looks hideous.

Not looking forward to being forced to use ios 8 in when my 6 ships. My only hope is that when a jailbreak hits I'll be able to make it more bearable.

I'll be glad when this trend of anorexic fonts circles back to bolder ones. Get that new Pepsi logo off my lawn.

I love how some people on here pass off their opinion as "fact"
Saying "iOS 6 is the best mobile OS" is no more a "fact" than saying "iOS 7 was perfect" Then of course you got some people who claim that EVERYBODY hates/loves iOS 6/7/8/iPhone 6/6+ as if they collected all this data that actually supports said claim. Personally, iOS 6 looked so dated. Even when it shipped on iPhone 5 is looked dated. And it was one of the main complaints many had about the iPhone. The damn OS hadnt really changed since 2007. I was glad Apple finally decided to kick iOS in the ass and give it a much needed updated look and feel. Just my opinion.

Why not? Many people want it back.
'Many people want it back'? Like who? Some people who like a bit of nostalgia on the odd internet forum? I bet if you asked most iPhone users who don't follow the tech world, they wouldn't care less. Why would anybody want an interface that looks dated for goodness sake.

Apple went in the right direction after iOS 6 and I for one wouldn't want them to go back to the past just for the sake of a few thousand geeks who miss a certain style of interface. They have enough pressure as it is to match or out do their competition and reverting a style would just be seen as silly IMO. Embrace iOS 8 and enjoy what the future may bring. :)

The only problem I have is that you are not allowed to roll back to the os the phone was purchased with.

They cant use the fragmentation argument anymore since they went with 2 resolutions.

Agreed.

When iOS 8 came out you had 10 days (from Sept 17th to Sept 27th) to try it out and revert back to iOS 7... but why even cut it off after 10 days? What's the point of intentionally blocking people from downgrading their OS if you allow it on Macbooks anyways?

Makes no sense at all outside of Apple simply wanting to be pricks and causing planned obsolescence of older devices to drive new sales.

No idea. I don't work for Apple, nor do I claim to understand their reasoning behind some of their ideas. So, of course, it must be because they are "pricks"./s

Glad you brought some valid information to the table and can see the reasoning of the whole post above yours. /s

My point was, I don't have an idea as to why they don't allow it and neither do you. So, to you, they are instantly "pricks". Where is the valid information in that?

My point was, I showed an example of them allowing it on another of their products (MacBooks) so it doesn't make sense for them to intentionally block iOS users from doing so.

So yes, it's a conscious decision by a company to limit users ability to control their iOS devices and (in my opinion) makes them pricks. Seems perfectly valid for me to have an opinion.

So then, why is my opinion on it any less valid? Simply because it doesn't gel with your opinion? My opinion is that I don't care to go back to the iOS6 look, nor do I care to downgrade my devices to the previous OS.
