Could it be today?

I'm not sure. Perhaps someone could tell me when Apple released a beta on a Friday?

BGR seem to think today and recently they have been right!!

We are too close to the rumored Sept 9 announcement, and GM. No more betas.

So, iOS 7 beta 6 came out on August 15th, today also happens to be August 15th. It appears that it isn't too late for another beta.

Exciting, I thought maybe beta5 was the last before GM....but reliable sources saying beta6 today! Awesome. Let's wait and see for 1 PM EST

I'm not holding my breath for today. It seems odd to release a beta just before the weekend, but who knows? I might be wrong. In fact, I hope I'm wrong!

Recently they had one or two right, preciously they had a few wrong, and prior to that they had some right and some wrong. What does it all mean? It could be today or it might be some other day. (As for Friday, while it's overall less usual day for a release, it's still a weekday which doesn't really set up a case against it, as any weekday is generally a possibility.)

They have fixed today holiday calendar bug for specific regions so it could be also beta 6 release day.

Does that mean they aren't planning on releasing 7.1.3 to fix the calendar bug? I know there had been some talk of a small point release to fix that. If not that would actually be good from a business stand point.

Seems not, fixed by server side.
Would be interesting to see if others are seeing the same thing.

That said its hard to say whether or not that might make a beta release more or less likely, just that there's a possibility of it basically, as there always has been, more or less.

A little bit of statistics...

A little bit of statistics:

Looking at release data from iPhone OS 2 up until iOS 8 beta 5, there has been a total of 84 beta/GM releases (including minor and major versions).

Out of those 84, only SEVEN have been released on a Friday:
  • iPhone OS 2.1 Beta 3
  • iPhone OS 2.2 Beta 2
  • iOS 5.0 beta 2
  • iOS 5.0 beta 4
  • iOS 5.0 beta 6
  • iOS 5.0.1 beta 1
  • iOS 7.1 beta 2

So, ever since iOS 7.1 beta 2, no iOS beta or otherwise has been released on a Friday. Excluding that, there's a 7/84 (8.3%) chance it will appear today. :D

(Edit: fixed some incorrect data)

All my iDevices including Mac and friends iPhones and iPads doesn't have this issue now. It seems issue was server side because all OS X and iOS versions including betas had this issue.

Certainly interesting data, although Im not sure it necessarily implies that there is an 8.3% chance of it being today, just that historically speaking past releases had an 8.3% rate of appearance on a Friday. That in itself doesn't necessarily have as much direct impact on a future release as they are independent events essentially. But, yes, in the overall "feeling" type of sense, it makes it appear that Friday is somewhat less popular or perhaps even likely than some other weekdays.
