Wouldn't we see Beta 6 tomorrow or Tuesday given how they've been spacing the releases?

We might, but with the public release just about a month away at this point it's quite likely that there won't be any more betas.

I think we'll see another Beta before GM :)
My question is, why? What makes some people so sure? Sure iOS 8 b5 is buggy, but is a super stable beta Apple's goal? Isn't the beta there for devs? The goal is to iron out problems, so the public release is super stable.

If the idea stems from beta 6 of iOS 7, wasn't that an emergency iCloud fix? Is there a serious problem with iOS 8 b5 that would necessitate the need for beta 6?

Beta 5 runs still like a crap even on retina iPad mini.... It is massive buggy and just piece of crap... They need more beta to smooth things out...otherwise, it gonna turn into massive failed iOS 7...

there has to be one more beta before GM, theres no way apple goes that long or leaves as many obvious bugs without another beta

So instead of Apple working on a GM for about 5 weeks, you'd rather have them work on beta 6 for 2 weeks, release that, then turn their attention towards the GM for another 3 weeks? And like I said above, isn't the point of the beta supposed to be for devs to work with, to get a feel for, while Apple works on making it a stable OS by fall? Releasing a beta 3 weeks before the GM would be arbitrary. It takes attention and workers away from the GM and official release.

the nature & number of the bugs in beta 5 will need to be fixed with beta 6 then tested before GM is released

That's not really how it works. It's not like they start from scratch after releasing a beta.

Each of beta contains bug fixes... Hat is point of beta... Beta 5 still have large amount of bugs...they need releases other beta for bug fixes and get developers involves for fix more bugs...

Apple works on a bunch of stuff between the last developer beta and the GM. Plenty of builds and internal and perhaps even partner testing. As is the case with many products.

Just my POV as an iOS dev :)

There are often a lot of known issues that they don't bother fixing until the GM. We won't be getting a perfectly stable beta version. If performance is bad, it may be because there is debug code that can affect performance during the beta.

It is a little late for a new beta now IMO.

Last year also no one expected a beta 6 and all the naysayers were here (just like now) and then puff, beta 6 on the 15th of August, so I say there will be another one today :)

I assume it will be just bug fixing one and no new feature or major changes but who knows.

The Photos "app" is extremely buggy and crashes a lot. Safari dies a lot as well. And I've had a few device restarts on the beta 5. So I hope they get to work :D

Edit:

Also Maps UI glitches like crazy when looking for directions.

Maps is crazy on iOS 8 haha. It's way too buggy still.

Apple releases these betas so that developers can update their apps for iOS 8 ahead of it's release. At least, that is what they tell everyone. If that is actually the case then there needs to be some more betas, because there are some really broken things in the API's to the point where I've stopped my app migration to iOS 8 because it's pointless to guess at how they will fix some of the present bugs.

Surely if they want apps ready at launch they will fix up some more bugs so that it gives devs a chance.

This.

It really does need to be polished up still. Xcode is still buggy too and they usually release a new beta of this hand in hand with iOS betas so i would't be surprised to see a new beta out before GM / release. Especially with including a new language in it now it really needs to be thoroughly tested to destruction.

This is true! I've stopped developing an iOS 8 version of my app as well! The APIs I use are so broken, it's unusable to target iOS 8 at this point. I can't even verify my code is working as expected.

Agreed.

I'm currently struggling with 3 things with my app :

1. Custom swipe screen segue animations - For some screens it works, for some it doesn't. I haven't changed the code a bit, but I have changed the connections this week-end, and it's been broken since then.

2. Screen Width and Screen Height has been reversed in landscape mode only in iOS 8 and has been a real PITA to debug. It's been reported to Apple by me, but since it hasn't been fixed in Beta 5 already, I expect it's a new behavior.

3. viewDidAppear gets called multiple times (if I remember by heart).

Points 2 and 3 has been broken since day 1 in the iOS betas, and I am clueless as how to support iOS 8 right now. A lot of APIs are broken, and my debug code tells me it should work fine...

I've renewed my Dev account today, and I am hoping for a new release within the next hour or two.

Perhaps you don't understand the point of developer preview. Developer preview is all about introducing all the new APIs and features so that developers can make apps for iOS 8, as well as to receive important feedbacks. After the final beta, Apple locks down to fix bugs. It is not Apple's intention to release developer preview free of major bugs.

There will be lots of builds between now and then... Just probably not any public ones... Apple has the feedback that it needs from developers.
