I was wondering whether the original idea of that Apple sim was to have the same number for two devices, rather than being a non specified sim that then can be used by any carrier.
As things are I totally agree, yet another phone number would make things complicated and messy.

The Apple SIM was only used by Apple when buying an iPad from Apple, I am sure to avoid having a "Verizon" "AT&T" "T-Mobile" and "Sprint" iPad, rather, they can just sell one iPad with cellular, without having to stock ones with different SIM cards in it. Buying an iPad directly from the carrier here in the US, has that carrier's SIM card in it, not the Apple SIM. Also no iPhones have the Apple SIM, they have their respective carrier SIM cards.

I don't think we should assume that each future generation will have a single platform. If the watch is a hit, they can branch out to a variety of levels & configurations, camera will add bulk, but some will be willing to wear that. GPS and/or LTE will be desirable for some, but not for all much as with iPad tiers. I think we can expect this first gen product line is far simpler than future gens will be.

GPS is big for any advanced running tracker. LTE connection would also be cool.

My personal favorite, however, is a Titanium case. My inner metallurgist would buy that in a heartbeat.

Camera
GPS
LTE
2-day battery life (not really complaining about the "18 hour battery life" since it lasts much longer for me)
Improved health sensors -- including blood pressure

Realistically, support for an Watch SDK for native apps, and longer battery life to support running more apps. Unrealistically, thinner with a lot more completely functional (and FDA approved) biosensors. Maybe GPS.

No camera, I don't want the watch to create gl*ssholes.
No LTE, I don't want a battery big enough to power a radio to call distant cell towers.

Apple Watch 2.0 Your Wishlist here

So, the Apple Watch is finally out.
I guess version two is not that far away, since version 1 was introduced quite a while ago.

What are your wishes/dreams/desires for version two?

Mine are:
- 2G/3G connectivity (for running without iPhone)
- turning digital crown loads battery
- solar power

I am curious about your ideas!

Mine are:

- Secondary Opti-cap enabled
- Waterproof to 1.2m
- Fold-out of watch face (so can unfold from 42mm to 84mm or even 126mm

- Blood oxygen sensor
- Blood sugar sensor
- Blood pressure sensor
- 1-year battery life
- Holographic rollout screen
- Surround sound speakers
- 2GB RAM
- 128GB storage
- Built-in coffee maker
- Unicorn tear generator

That's all I can think of for now.

- turning digital crown loads battery

Although this seems useful I doubt it'll actually generate enough power, because how often do you actually turn the crown?

- solar power

Same here, the watch is pretty small so the solar cells with have to be attached to the bands and theres also not a lot of space there. Also parts of the band may be covered by ones sleeve or be facing away from direct light (like when typing, or when pressed against ones body whilst standing) so this would make more of the cells less useful

2GB's of RAM!! Are you crazy, :apple: would never do that!

I know and I would find it funny seeing people turn that crown like crazy in order to get some more minutes of battery life.

DAB tuner
Sats and BP
40% thinner
Always on display
Siri built into the firmware
Front facing camera for FaceTime and Skype calls

Nice to have: Buzz saw (from Live and let die)

I just want my messages to sync to the phone. I can delete on the phone and it doesn't delete on the watch. But I'm a simple man. Seems like an easy software fix.

I'd like the ability to send basic replies to e-mails, similar to what they have for texts.

For software:

FaceTime audio calls support

Beep on the hour/talking clock like Mac

Sleep tracking (seeing as charge time is so fast) perhaps implemented with a "Zzz" icon in control centre which also disables notifications

Wallpaper watch face

Compass (does it have the hardware?)

More watch faces

Find my Friends

Few more animated emojis

3G/LTE or signal strength indicator glance

Custom taptic patterns per contact

- 2G?! Uh... no.
- Solar power?! You can't seriously think the sun can power this type of battery...

I don't need a second generation yet. All I want is a jailbreak because I know the JB community will offer a boatload of other faces and features.

Thinner
Sapphire glass with reduced glare
Waterproof (safe for swimming would be enough)
GPS
Bunch of additional health sensors
Camera
Additional RAM, processing power and storage, so to enable more powerful software features

Moonshot: touch ID on the digital crown, or better yet, if it can be figured out, directly on the display. I guess that would be a big breakthrough for the iPhone as well.

And in the very future... an embedded/software SIM that is cloned from your iPhone SIM for cellular redundancy, and complete device independence.

All of this is not possible yet due to battery restrictions. So get on that, science.

edit: ahem, sorry got carried away. Gen 2 only:

Built in GPS

Customize buttons (taps, crown and friends buttons) by app. So for example in running mode I could have the crown raise music volume or tapping would advance to the next song.

Having bands I can actually buy.

That is all.

The form factor will not change for second gen, but expect the key feature to be longer battery. More powerful chip clocked to the same speed blah blah.

Other than this not much will change between the first and second gen. To both give first gen buyers a reason to feel happy with their purchase, and give better reason to those who waited for the second gen.

The third generation though will be a form factor change. Which will get everyone to buy one.

Historically, Apple's 2nd gen product has always been radically different from the first. One reason for this is that during the development process, there comes a point where the design has to be frozen to allow pre-production and software development, despite what they may have learned in developing the hardware along the way allowing them to do things differently. So that knowledge is immediately funneled into the second generation model.

So I disagree with your prediction, though other than historical precedent there's nothing that makes mine more accurate than yours.

That said, once the early adopters buy the watch, and let's face it, those die hard Apple enthusiasts are often the only ones who return to the trough the second year after buying the first generation models, before the product is widely adopted by the general public. So the question is, what must-have features will Apple add to the hardware? The first gen watch will most likely get all the watch OS 2 updates, so there will have to be physical changes to the watch to make early adopters of the first gen model rush out and buy the second gen. Otherwise Apple will be struggling to get more customers for it, with the "old news" of last years model, which the luminaries of the fashion industry will likewise be "over". The best way to do that is the way they always do it -- new design and/or hardware features.

It will have to be more than GPS which appeals to a limited user base. And it will have to be more than internal speed bumps, and power management to appeal to a broader public. A round watch might boost numbers from the fashion conscious, though not from the original tech guys, but it will have to offer something truly different like a camera to get general attention from the public and tech community alike.

Apple really did themselves a disservice putting everything but the kitchen sink into this model, giving themselves little room to quickly grow for the next edition. It's going to be hard to squeeze something new into the next watch it doesn't already have, which is enough to captivate the public, as well as the fashion and tech world, but that seems to be the bed they've made for themselves.

Then again, they could just rest on their laurels, change nothing about the hardware design, add a few new watchbands, speed bump the chips, and call it a day. Somehow that doesn't seem like Apple to me.

I would like to see better battery life and definitely more band options. I don't think they need to change the design for this.

Agreed. Perhaps a 44mm watch? I like big watches, and a lot of people tell me my 42mm is small on my wrist.

I do not know if the camera will be useful on the watch To me I do not even use my iPhone camera.
