Apple Silicon, Apple Watch Ultra and Vision Pro!
Apple Silicon is not a product. It's the evolution in the Mac hardware architecture, taking into account Apple's own release schedules which did not coincide with Intel's, performance, and most importantly costs.

Apple Watch Ultra is merely a variation of Apple Watch. Uses exactly the health sensors and only has bigger battery. It was conceived as another revenue stream.

Vision Pro - the question was "that sold in large volumes", i.e. a successful product, not the butt of all jokes.

Apple Silicon is a product, that is inside all the 'M' Mac's. The Apple Watch Ultra, well hardly a variation, but I'll cede to you, the point of the AVP. However you clearly have your agenda, whereby you are right, end of.

I agree and add wearables in general and ATV. The questions are ridiculously phrased to deflect as to how Cook grew apple into the giant it is today. Only an asperser can deny what Cook did during his tenure by asking questions such as: “name the big product under Tim’s watch that he didn’t inherit from Jobs”.

Nothing under Tim was really by him or pushed by him though, except the massive flop Vision Pro which he became obsessed with and took resources from elsewhere to push that crap.

He's been a flop IMO, he let Jeff "bean counter" Williams run the iPhone into ground and a joke by reusing the same design for 6 years to save costs, blew AI because he thought sheep would accept the same crap YOY and Siri was enough for them.

I dunno. Your remark about epidermis hiring was pretty telling, tbh.
So saying that someone should be judged by their skill set and sexual orientation / race / sex shouldn’t matter is somehow a negative?

You’re probably right if that’s the case and I stand by my old school and God loving values. I’m not going to be a bigot as others are and stand up for those who work hard and want to do better in life should be rewarded for it. Not handed something because they didn’t earn it. I hope you find your way in the world as that other mindset isn’t gonna carry you anywhere.

Where is the shaking head emoji when you need it! The profitability of a company isn’t based on just cutting costs and streamlining operations.
Much like most CEO’s, Tim doesn’t invent anything, he leads the organisation and lets others do the roles they were employed to do.

All snark and jokes aside Tim has done a good enough job with the cards he’s been dealt

Nobody expected Steve to be gone so soon and he’s been doing a decent job keeping the company running

It’s just time to find someone with more vision, it’s not that Tim is a bad CEO, he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a good CEO for Apple

I don’t know if whoever they have lined up will do a better job or not but at this point I think it’s worth trying rather than risking stagnation

2008 Acquisition: Jobs led the $278 million acquisition of P.A. Semi, a boutique microprocessor design firm. This gave Apple the internal talent to stop relying on off-the-shelf parts from companies like Samsung and Intel.

• The A4 Chip (2010): The first custom-designed Apple chip, the A4, debuted in the original iPad and the iPhone 4. Jobs personally introduced this chip, marking the official birth of what we now call "Apple Silicon."

Apple Watch is Tim’s.

VisionPro is a useless trashcan of a product that didn’t sell enough to even cover the investment

Ping
Apple ///
Arguably the Lisa
G4 Cube

Probably a bunch more.
But his wins eclipse any failures along the way and he brought Apple back from bankruptcy to a trillion dollar giant. Tim coasted on that success and gave us the Vision Pro, an unmitigated disaster. I love folks who champion this guy and act like he’s done anything ground breaking during his tenure.

Not for anything, the universe outside of MR believes Tim Cook has what it takes to be an excellent ceo of Apple.

You’re welcome to your opinion but in the real world there is a different view of Tim Cook. And no Vision Pro was a success as it proved Apple can implement some technologies. Success does not have to be measured in terms of hundreds of billions sold.

Lol. Decent? Apple's market value at the time of Steve Jobs's death was $350B. Today Apple is worth nearly $4T. Cook has not only delivered very well for shareholders, but he has put aside a massive pile of cash and investments that all but guarantees that Apple can weather any storm.

I'm going to be laughing at all the Cook haters who hate the next Apple CEO just as much and complain endlessly about how Steve would have done X, Y, or Z (despite the fact that none of you knew the guy, ever worked with him, or have a clue what he would or wouldn't have done). Let Steve rest in peace for goodness sakes. It's also funny how people have a very selective memory when it comes to Jobs. He had a ton of flops in his career and would have bankrupted Apple if Scully hadn't shown him the door.

It’s just time to find someone with more vision, it’s not that Tim is a bad CEO, he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a good CEO for Apple
That's so utterly ridiculous coming from some random Joe Schmoe on the internet. Cook is arguably one of the greatest CEOs of all time.

It'll 100% be more of the same. It's not like there's a secret stash of amazing tech that Cook has been keeping from the world. The entire industry has more or less plateaued and every company is just cranking out iterative products. Apple is no different. I have no clue why Apple and Cook are constantly held to some weird and totally undeserved higher standard than every other company out there.

The next CEO won't deviate much from Cook's agenda. There's never going to be another Steve Jobs. End. Of. Story. The next Apple CEO isn't going to be a "visionary" who makes radical changes. The board would never approve such a person. The board would never risk the piles and piles of cash Apple makes every quarter in order to satisfy the fanboy/girl thirst for a "visionary" leader.

I’m not saying Tim Cook isn’t an excellent CEO, when I say he’s doing a good enough job I’m not talking about the financial angle, which he’s obviously crushing - I’m talking about everything else

To be absolutely fair to Cook, Jobs was an anomaly and it’s absolutely understandable he didn’t try to do the same thing

All I hope is that having a “products guy” in charge restores that “a thousand no’s for every yes” figure that can steer the teams away from some of the decisions that make the experience less than stellar

As it stands Apple is still the golden standard when it comes to UX if you’re willing to understand the angle they’re coming from but there’s an undeniable amount of erosion in the “excellence” we’ve come to expect

That’s not to say Jobs was perfect, MobileMe and the iPod Hi-fi both shipped under his watchful eye but I think having someone whose talents extend beyond supply chain and generally “making business good” could benefit the company

It’s not like Tim Cook needs to be shot out of a cannon either, every report indicates that he’ll be around for as long as he wants and his presence would absolutely be missed because the guy is an absolute genius when it comes to making deals (seriously check out the book After Steve and you’ll see what I mean)

That’s all there is to it, I’m not coming from a “**** Tim Cook I’m so glad he’s gone” angle, I’m coming from a “he’s done a great job considering he had to step in after Steve died but the company really needs a thought leader lest it becomes any other tech company”

obviously Apple was never going to be the same, nor should it really, Jobs himself told Tim to not think “what would I have done”, but I don’t think it should settle for “a well running business either”, yes it’s a corporation, yes the bottom line is a priority but I don’t think that is incompatible with releasing products with a clear vision and attention to detail

(And no, I don’t think the Apple Vision Pro is a mistake)
