Interesting - so far, we have 20 buyers for PS4 vs 7 buyers for XBox One.

I know this is way too small of a sample to be in any way representative, but it does seem to mirror the general vibe I am getting.

For us people in the know I think it's down to the mixed messages, the backtracking and the specs from MS and because of how amazing PSN is getting.
For those people not in the know I think it's down to the higher price than the PS4.
For those people very not in the know I think they're still happy with the current gen and will be for a long time.

I will pick one of them up when there is a price drop and some good bundles, but until then there is nothing to really entice me. I also want to be sure that neither of them have an awful hardware issue (RROD).

I’ll buy a PS4 once I get through my backlog of 12 or so PS3 games….plus a bunch I even haven’t purchased, yet. So, I’m in no rush. If there’s a price drop once I get through it, cool. If not, fine.

Though, I bought a Wii U at launch even though I have a similar, but smaller, backlog of 8 Wii games to play. The Wii U can play Wii games. So, that makes it an easier purchase than a PS4 whhich can only play PS4 games.

Thankfully GTA V will take away that desire to grab the PS4 at least until I beat the truffle out of it around December.
Watch_Dogs is complicated as I'll be able to play it on the PS3 but then it will look much better on the PS4.

But by the time Kojima launches MGS V, I think I'll be "forced" to shell out ye olde bucks for that that PS4.

Since our members here are more international, that may be why the Playstation has more early adopters. ?

It may be that more gamers in the US will pick up an XBone. This is pure conjecture on my part...I can chat up the (already) chatty GameStop dude down the corner from me, and see what his pre-order sales & vibes are.

To be fair, most of us hate Microsoft here.

There seems to be a lot of irrational hatred of Microsoft om this forum. I've been a mac user for the last 20+ years and the only company to recognise my 'mac' usage and offer me incentives / rewards for it has been Microsoft making me a MVP for the macintosh.

Given how much money I spend on Apple hardware and software each year it is ironic that the only company that has shown any loyalty to me its consumer is Microsoft - not apple.

That being said..... I'm still only getting a PS4 at launch. I'll pick up a XB1 next year when there are exclusives I care about, at the moment I see nothing to compel me to purchase one at launch.

Neither console has any launch titles I'm interested in.

I think I bought my 360 when GTA IV came out, so I'll probably wait for something I actually want to play in the next generation and buy it then.

With GTA 5 and GT6 on the 3 I'll be content for a while not getting the 4.

So it'll be within the first year I'll plump for the PS4

I got my PS3 on launch and I am very happy I got approximately 5 years from it. However with the PS4 I am hesitating that this gen will not last as long with the absence of hDMI 2.0 and 4k gaming. Also there was a bigger jump from a PS2 to PS3 in terms of DVD to blu ray sound codecs etc. I wonder if the blu ray in the PS4 is capable of driving 4k in the near future.

At the moment only top-end PC cards can pull 4k at good settings. It's going to be a couple of years before the mid-range cards are doing that. 4K's gonna be big for video but not for games, yet. That'll be next-next gen. The next gen will be getting games at high settings at 1080p.

Didn't Sony announce that the PS4 will support 4k for video?

PS4, BF4, KZ:SF and a $100 PSN card for those interesting PSN launch games all paid for.

XboxOne when the price drops...maybe.

For the record I don't hate MicroSoft I'm just not interested in the XboxOne until something comes out that catches my eye.

Bless

I will buy a Playstation 4 when a game comes out that I really want that I have to have the PS4 for. That way by that time I hopefully avoid launch day console issues, maybe price will have gone down (though that's a hopeful but not likely maybe as I expect Witcher 3 will do it if I don't get lucky and Fallout 4 comes out first), and I'll get more data on which one is likely to get most developer support (Though PS4 will have to not get much developer support for me to change my mind. I have issues with how MS tries to market their stuff in general as I think many times they try to get away with pretty much ripping off their customers. And I really don't see PS4 losing much developer support at all, it's looking pretty good for it).

There's no reason for me to get one now. No game is really enticing me that much save maybe Assassisn's Creed 4 (and hell all the games I'm even semi interested for are not exclusive to the new consoles) and I still don't think it looks enough to justify buying a console over (Though I will wait til I get my PS4 to get any game that also comes out on new gen. By the time I get it they'll be cheaper too ;) ). Really all the games that look interesting this year are coming out on PS3 (I haven't even heard of any new xbox 360 games that sound interesting). And only two I know of next year that have potential to sell me next gen (unless Fallout comes out... *looks at Bethesda*).

Maybe in the far future if I can get an xbox one for cheap used, I might get one too (i'm not paying much for something that I can only play single player games with for what I pay for it. And no, I'm not griping about paying to play multiplayer, I'm griping about the fact that MS gimps everything on the One and 360 save single player games if you refuse to pay their rent the console you already paid for fee). And if MS hadn't done a 180, I wouldn't even say that.

Voted for PS4, and I am a late-generation adopter. So I will see how things shake out first.

I supposed I bought into next gen with the Wii U and a "gaming PC" last year.

I have always owned a Playstation got the PS2 on launch as a present, than the PS3 on launch so a ps4 is my turf, besides i have WII U to mix up the fun. I will be getting 2 or 3 games (Killzone Shadow fall, Need for Speed Rivals and maybe Destiny) minus the playstation eye and playstation + at launch.
