Will all the mini, 12, 12 pro and pro max be on demo/display in store on Friday?

Uh, first of all, the iPhone 11 Pro came with a usb-c charger and second of all, if you don’t already have a charger then you must have never purchased an iPhone before, or you just like to complain. I doubt Apple will lose a single sale because they omit the headphones and charger.
They have lost at least a single sale and I am THE ONE.

To everyone complaining about not getting headphones, and the guy with the 6S who said he will buy a lightning-to-3.5mm adapter, I highly recommend you try some form of Bluetooth headphones instead.

With Bluetooth 5, even the really cheap ones work well. And once you get used to them, I'm pretty sure you won't want to be going back to wired again. The inconvenience of having to charge periodically is greatly outweighed by the convenience of not having a wire hanging down from each ear.

The only possible advantage of wired is for sound quality in high-end headphones, but Apple was never shipping those in the box anyway.

Another guy with a 6s.

I use XiaoMi True Wireless Earphones. Cheap (about GBP 25). Work well. Sound quite reasonable. Nothing fancy but, for English rather than Chinese, they rely on IOS rather than having a software app so some fancy features not available. Both an advantage and a disadvantage depending on point of view.

If you actually think Chicago is a great city, particularly over Dallas, I truly feel sorry for you.
You or me thinking about the greatness of a city is irrelevant here. Chicago is twice as populous as Dallas so it is the default for the time zone.

it’s been this forever for a good reason
EST -> New York City
CST -> Chicago
MST -> Denver
PST -> Los Angeles

BTW neither Dallas nor Chicago come to mind when I think of a great city.

I suggest no one order a new iPhone to send the message to Apple that leaving out the charger and headphones is not OK.

They give you a new USB-C cable but their phones have never had a USB-C charger before now so what good is that cable if they've never given you a charger for that format? Really dumb. Their headphones don't last forever. But at least you got them when you bought a new phone. Now you're stuck paying more.

Say no until Apple cries UNCLE! Besides there will be some sweet deals come the holidays if you wait. There always is.
The only thing Apple will cry about is all the way to the virtual bank. All the conquest Android sales will have USB-C and all current iPhone upgraders have USB-A to Lightning cables and chargers which will work just fine. Plenty of us already have multiple aftermarket chargers of both types. For the vast majority of people who’ve used smartphone, it’s a complete non-issue.

But whatever floats your boat of keyboard angst.

And sweet deals, maybe through the carriers or maybe a bundle or two. But Apple has always had very good pricing power so true discounts (like Samsung has had to offer to move its slow selling Galaxy S20’s) will not be coming if demand is strong as it likely will be.

Preordering an iPhone that nobody has ever tested seems insane

It’s called trusting in a brand. The 6.1” size is now well known as is the Max. The mini will be intriguing for those looking to upgrade from 5/5S/SE and 6/6S/7/8. Yes, it sucks that Apple Stores are capacity limited right now so browsing and hefting the iPhones won’t be as easy as before. Everyone will adapt.

I'm surprised everyone is just fine with the fact that the intro pricing is now $129 more than it was with the iPhone 11. And before anyone says it, NO, the mini does not count.

Only in your mind. The mini is a real product so they moved the base price to that one. And yes, it still comes w/new A14/Neural Engine, high res Sammy OLED w/driver chip instead of LCD, Qualcomm 5G modem and antenna systems (likely X55 chip, best currently available, handles all known & approved bands, new chassis designs and packaging, and iOS 14. But for some reason you think these are free to Apple.

Consumers will vote with their wallets, credit cards, Apple Pay and preorders. Sit back and see who will win out.

Yeah this Dallas instead of Chicago for CT is completely bogus. We need a change.org petition or something. Macrumors - FIX IT!

Actually, they meant to mean Des Moines, but were worried no one could pronounce it properly.

No one should buy the iPhone 12 this year, especially the iPhone 12 Pro Gold 512 GB, that model is terrible and gaudy. Also the price for the storage upgrade is outrageous. Scammy. The processors barely got an upgrade, no 120 Hz either. I suggest waiting another year to purchase. Please guys

Ah, trying to thin the queue ahead of you, I see what you did there.

Indeed, the lack of 120hz is downright offensive to tech enthusiasts, but it's the iPhone...

As is the putrid battery life other 120hz displays running at full resolution get like on Samsung’s “flagships”. Sammy has to throttle back resolution or refresh speed to get any decent battery life and Apple would get hammered for that issue so Apple decided to prioritize battery life and resolution this go around, IMO.

how do you buy your phone? that's like $2-3 dollars a month extra? is that good financial thing, I don't know but my dad who is a manager at a huge AT&T store tells me that of the 1000's of phones they sell every month almost all are on installment plans.

This is quite common as is buying other products like major appliances, HVAC systems and cars on installment plans. It’s only different by matters of degree.

Here’s a thought though. Say you’re buying a $1200 iPhone 12 Pro 256gb on an installment plan. So you’re paying $15-50/mo for 24 months depending on trade in or not. Take the balance of $1200 and buy 10 shares of AAPL today at $120. Put that away and watch it. I dare say that by end of your contract Nov. 2022, the stock will have risen quite handsomely. How high? Well if it gets to $180, it just knocked off 50% off the cost of your iPhone. If it reaches $240 in two years, it just paid for your iPhone and you still have your principal minus any capital gains taxes if you sell. If you put this in your IRA, even better because it will continue to grow for a long time.

Guys, screenshoot this part of my post and let’s meet back at the 2022 iPhone preorder & release thread for the update.

They have lost at least a single sale and I am THE ONE.

Feel more powerful now that you’ve denied Apple your purchase? Good for you, thousands more to take your place. In the grand scheme of Apple selling 75-85 million iPhones this quarter and another 40+ million next quarter, your “lost” sale will mean nothing. Apple doesn’t care that it “loses” 1.15 Billion sales to Android annually.

Respectfully, Find another headphone jack, 30 pin connector, Home Button, TouchID, curved sides windmill to tilt at.

Dallas is a metroplex, with almost 8M. Chicago metro is over 9M but encompasses 3 states to do it. Definitely not twice as populous in any kind of reality.

Dallas is a top 5 city in the US. Jobs, food, good looking and nice people, and the weather is far better than Chicago.

I’ve experienced Chicago. It’s a dump.

I love how MacRumors can turn time zones into a flame war... or the users.

May I add to it? Which international measure should we use in order to rank cities in each time zone? Which time zones qualify for reporting? Perhaps we can develop a new index that incorporates multiple other indexes and measures if indeed not one of our own? I’m all up for this. Let the flood gates open!

We could call it: The MR-worthy Time Zones and Preferred City Index; or MRTZ-PCI?

I do this stuff for a living. Bring it on!
