Is it just me or has there been hardly a leak about this year’s AW10.

I mean we have practically perfect iPhone 16 replica mockups, yet nada for this 10th anniversary Apple Watch.

Will it take on an all new design or more of the same as the past 3 or 4 iterations? Surely it’s due for a refresh.

I’m guessing Titanium will be the new stainless steel, but will it be thinner? More squared off?
Thoughts?

It’s like pretty much every year … silent, there have been a few rumors about new watch band connector, redesign, new health sensors but as usual, nothing really like iPhone

Usually there’s a bit more though. This year just seems awfully quiet.

Maybe they've finally managed to keep it under wraps! I'm hoping and holding for a new ultra colour, however I don't think it'll happen. Given that it's sort of positioned as the only model for adventures etc., adding new colours and making various ones available might take away from the idea that there's only one watch to buy if you want that rugged design if that makes sense.

There’s less urgency to change the Ultra. It’s only a few years into its product cycle.

The mainstream AW has been pretty stagnant the last 3-4 years. It needs a new design or something notable for its 10th anniversary.

Ask and ye shall receive!

The article concluded with the most amazing prediction yet — but also unsourced and unsubstantiated.

“Apple is said to be planning to incorporate blood pressure monitoring this year, with the watch able to detect hypertension, while sleep apnea detection is also said to be coming to the 2024 Apple Watch model.”
Wonder who said it… 😁

It would be fantastic if true!

Very unlikely.

Given Apple's proclivity to want health relate metrics to be as accurate as possible, BP at the wrist is not that precise. Proper BP also requires the patient be still and not talking. And you would need a special band, large enough to hold an air bladder to inflate, and a band connector that has contacts to send information.

Sleep apnea can be somewhat inferred from PO2 dropping, but nowhere near accurate enough. Even specialized in-home sleep apnea tests are usually used to give an idea if you should seek an in-lab sleep study.

Well, technology has come a long way and the way to measure BP is/will be changing.
Back in the days your body temp was measured by putting a thermometer in your behind, today, they hold a gun in front of your forehead…
When Apple will implement this, not sure, there have been rumors that suggested they will show a “trend” only, not accurate data… a few more months to go to find out for sure.

To get even a somewhat accurate blood pressure reading, you must sit still and relaxed.

The legs should be parallel and bent at the knee.

If you cross your legs, your blood pressure goes up and messes up the reading.

If you walk, your blood pressure goes up and messes up the reading.

If you sit, stand, twist, turn, or strain to poop, your blood pressure goes up and messes up the reading.

This is not the matter of technology, it's the matter of how the human body functions.

Using AW for blood pressure monitoring would be ... inadvisable. It would result in an inevitable 💩storm when people run to their doctors because the watch indicated they have high blood pressure when they really shouldn't be checking it in the first place.

I'd expect Apple to understand this very well...

You are not even supposed to talk.

Also due to the Blood O2 hit and other issues dealing with the EU.

Honest question: Is a relevant amount of people outside the US even interested in Apple Watches? Or even Smartwatches at all?

I don't know anyone who is interested in things like that and the least thing would be an Apple Watch. Maybe some sporty people use some kind of fitness tracker, that counts their steps and shows them the distance they walked.

When I see an Apple Watch in Germany it's always a big Streamer on YouTube or Twitch wearing it or prominent people with much money on pictures or videos in the news. But I can't remember seeing one anywhere in real life on any average person.

I am in the UK and I see a lot of people with Apple Watches, both inside and outside the gym. I would assume it’s a very popular accessory almost everywhere

In Italy I see people with smartwatches anywhere I look (apple, samsung, garmin, etc.), also german tourists have them :)

Canada. Seems like everyone has a smartwatch.

Ok, not everyone obviously, but they’re super common. Routinely worn by many people.

Read an Apple News article today that’s from a supposedly reliable source that the band connectors will remain the same, changes will be slightly larger display on same previous sizes, and a few additional health metics.
We’ll find out next month.

I don‘t know where in Germany you live, but round here I see smart watches (mostly Apple) on people all the time.

Thanks all! Not sure how I missed the updates on the front page - I usually check for that, but looks like they don’t really have answers anyway.

Oh well, just one more month I suppose. This is my watch upgrade year, so I was hoping for something worth upgrading for. ;-p

I live in Denmark, and a lot of people have a Apple watch ⌚️ We we’re in Pirna for some trekking, and there I saw a lot of Apple ⌚️. Not many Ultras, but more the regular series’s. We are on vacation in Denmark (on Møn), and today I spoke with an Italian guy and a Dutch 🇳🇱, both wearing ultras.
