I buy most movies and TV shows I watch on iTunes, but almost never day one movie releases. They usually show up later for a much lower price. Bundles are also a good way to save. I also use Hulu and Netflix but rarely. Hulu's commercial breaks are a real turn-off for me. I also find iTunes' quality to be superior to that of Hulu's. Netflix is great for watching some older titles and not to forget Netflix exclusives. I really whish there would be an Amazon Prime app for the ATV, but I am sure it will happen eventually. All in all I am pretty happy with the ATV. I travel a lot overseas and I really love being able to continue watching my shows no matter where I am. Luckily, there is no limitation for watching iTunes content in foreign countries, as long as you use your US Apple ID.

If you have an iPhone you can AirPlay what you're watching on the amazon video app.

Do most of you buy them through iTunes/Google Play/Amazon, or do you buy blu-rays? Or do you get them from other sources?

I buy blurays (if I really want the movie) at the on post PX (they match walmarts price and no tax) but if not I just rent it at the redbox, TV shows I have Hulu, Netflix and Amazon.

I recently learned that the PX also price matches Amazon. We got a great price on our GoPro that way. I didn't realize that they price match online prices...most stores don't anymore.

Oh wow, I did not know that, I know walmart does not match online prices, even if its Bestbuy selling it online, it has to be on sale at the store and in stock in order for them to match it.

Thanks for the tip!!

Sure! This was at the Miramar PX. Hopefully the exchanges on Army bases (I'm assuming you're Army) do the same.

I know the kind of person I want to be and what kind my parents wanted me to be.
lol my family watches it with me. Going to watch The Wolf of Wall Street tonight. It's not even a topic of conversation for anyone under 30. It's become socially accepted and completely "normal" in the same way that people use Netflix for on demand watching.

As I said before, it's not just about getting it for free. Torrents provide a better service than anything currently available. High quality tv shows that are available minutes after air, movies available weeks before official release. No DRM, can be played back on anything. Using XBMC is a much better experience than any cable providers DVR. Unlimited space for shows, not limited to 20 hours by cable box. Picture quality can be improved by using software like madVR. The list goes on and on...

Mostly DVD/Blu-Ray rip that I own or rent, some private sharing and torrent.
For fitting all that in Apple TV, I use :

Handbrake for rip encoding and Remux to encode/remux mkv/avi to m4v
http://handbrake.fr
http://www.nef.wh.uni-dortmund.de/~mt/remux/

Soleol to find subtitles
http://eduo.info/apps/soleol

And the marvelous Subler to tag track, set video ratio, convert .VOBSUB to tx3g, add/delete track and find ATV/iTunes supported cover/credits for .MPV/MP4. Don't work well to encode audio for the moment due to the Perian dependency.
