Very cool. I almost went to Embry Riddle-Prescott. Was going to get my pilots license and a degree in aeronautical engineering. Was accepted and had a nice scholarship but in the end, elected not to for a variety of reasons

Sort of in the same boat.

Undergrad: University of Nebraska - Omaha, RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne Australia), and UTS (University of Technology, Sydney, Australia), all for Computer Science.

I lived in Prescott for a very short time, but 2 years after I moved to Las Vegas, I got bit by the aviation bug. 8 years after doing IT, I wanted to switch gears to do air traffic control. Unfortunately, I would have been too old to be accepted, despite there being a HUGE shortage of ATC (maximum age requirement is 31), so decided to go the other way. UNO has one of the best aviation programs in the country. Opted for CSN (College of Southern Nevada) as they offer a PPL program. Been working on that since 2004.

BL.

Got two BA's in history and philosophy at an university that's literally dead last in any given school rankings.

Got a massive upgrade by getting a JD at UC Hastings.

ANY college can teach you more than you could EVER learn. Lots of ivy grads collecting unemployment.

the really sad thing these days is watching someone with a bachelors degree get a job managing a grocery store--almost doesn't seem like they are worth the paper they are written on anymore

Totally agree. I have a HS classmate who went to Harvard to get a degree in Latin. She is now a mystery shopper lol! Oh, and she's not the only one, I know a handful of others too and it never fails to amuse me with all the talk from their parents comparing their child to others.

When I am not running my art business which barely breaks even I work as a clerk in a frozen food dept part time now just to keep the bills paid I know the deal LOL

Art Institute :(

I knew it was going to suck but I didn't care I just wanted the piece of paper to feel special and get a Masters in the future. But it sucks a lot more then I thought it would.

Initially stayed close to home and went to the College of Southern Idaho and got my associates.

I moved up to Boise that summer and had every intention of going back, but instead I got married and went to work while my wife transferred from CSI to Boise State and finished her degree.

After a three year break I enrolled at Boise State and finished my degree. A fine job my BFA in graphic design is doing me nowadays as an insurance agent. ;)

Wow - a lot of people here...
I noticed that those who went to Ivy Leagues or "really amazing," colleges basically went for crap majors - like Latin, or Spanish, or dance.

I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. I'm going into my Sophomore year and I'm way excited. Dual major in PoliSci and Philosophy with a minor in History.

you don't understand academia at all. You certainly don't think that this little thread is representative of a majority of Ivy grads do you?

I am very fortunate to have studied what I love at great universities and now do what I love and have a passion for as a living. Major in business or engineering??? sign me up for my lobotomy first please...

A " crap" major is better than having a crappy attitude toward advanced studies.
