Where do you keep your iPhone at night?

If there is airplane mode why isn't there a sleep mode where there are no lights if the phone rings etc but phone is still usable?

There is a stuffed cow sitting on a shelf next to my bed. I set my iPhone 4 craddled on it's legs.
