Would you consider buying two? I think once the stereo mode patch comes in it will be exponentially better to use two of them, if space permits.

Yeah I’m tempted, I might just wait until two are linked with stereo sound with both.

Would go with one white I reckon as already ordered space grey

HomePod has no inputs for HDMI or optical, so not sure how to connect to appletv. It does have Bluetooth 5.0, but not sure if it’ll accept for audio. I’m assuming it’s more for initial setup along with HomeKit devices.

Don’t believe so.
Airplay from AppleTV to HomePod......

If I were to get it, I can see using it in my living room. Other rooms just doesn't make sense to me. The downside of the price, is that it makes it financially expensive to put them in multiple rooms.

Kitchen is the most likely place for me. After all, when I'm in the living room I almost always have my phone and/or ipad and appleTV that can do Siri functions, plus I already have a decent sound system in the living room.

Still on the fence of keeping it to be honest, but if i do, it will be the kitchen. thing better sound amazing for the price or its going back. we shall all see

In my bedroom, will replace my echo dot. Living room is a no-go since it's SONOS town in there with 5.1 Home Theater and an echo dot as well.

I have an open L shaped lounge/dining room/kitchen so in the middle of all three. Hopefully the sound will carry to all rooms adequately.

Most likely atop my home theater rack - easy to control lighting, thermostat, use Siri, Apple TV 4K, etc.

On the sideboard in my living room between my Denon speakers.

If the HomePod sounds good i can see the Denon becoming redundant due to ease of use of the HomePod, i am a bit lazy.

One in the kitchen and another in the master bedroom. Both areas currently have 1st generation Sonos Play:5 speakers that won't support the coming AirPlay 2 and which I will likely sell. If Apple delivers on my sound quality expectations and updates the software to allow whole house audio I likely will purchase additional HomePods for our family room, basement living room, and basement fitness room to replace the rest of my current Sonos system made up of Play:1 speakers. My two kids have Play:1 speakers in their rooms that gather dust because apparently no one told me this generation only listens to music via headphones.

Kitchen, for a number of reasons:
  • it's where I use Siri hands-free most often — basically on a daily basis, setting timers while putting things in the oven, adding groceries to my Reminders list while preparing food etc. I currently use my Watch for this but not having to pause what I'm doing with my left hand is just that extra bit helpful
  • I love listening to music & podcasts while cooking, though I don't have speakers in there at present - I currently rely on my B&O BeoPlay A8 from the living room — a system I love for many reasons, so there's no need for the HomePod in there. However, the way the apartment is set up the sound is not terribly loud/clear in the kitchen
  • I've already got other great speakers in the master bedroom and study, where I don't need Siri quite so much (and when I do my iPhone/iPad/Mac is right there) so don't need the HomePod in there
  • the layout of the apartment means the HomePod will be fairly close to the front door, making it ideal for HomeKit commands e.g. when getting home at night — I've got a series of HomeKit light switches & bulbs on order
I didn't think I was that fussed about the HomePod at first, but now I'm super excited for Friday!

I am with Phil for most of the reasons he lists, my first one is going in the kitchen. I have Sonos in other rooms in the house.

Im considering getting a small table specifically for it so I can put it in the corner of my bedroom. Either that or just put it on my nightstand.

HomePod - Kitchen/Bar

The Echo and dots - eBay/craigslist.
Sonos - same as Echo.
B&W Zeppelin - same (if the homepod sounds that good)

Still not completely sold on Home pod yet. Biggest thing for me is how it will work with my TV. I directly link my Mac to the telly and play everything through that so I assume that the Mac will link with the home pod and everything will go through that way?

I'm going to put 2 in my bedroom and possibly 2 in the home office, i might later on decide to put one in the kitchen and 2 in the living room.

I’d like HomePod to be easy to clean.

But the space grey one as the white one will be harder to keep looking nice.

It is only a little bit over 6 inches tall so buying a table for it . . . . Well maybe wait and see as it can go anywhere.
