Crowdfunding has never worked for me, twice I have been shafted. I plan to order Cinder on Amazon via prime on the 21st and I'll have it before most of you and I only learned about it a few days ago. That's not right. Nomad, granted not crowdfunded, did that to us with the Watch stands. You could buy them in Best Buy meanwhile I was waiting for my "pre-order".

How the tables have turned:

Maybe you remember what kind of rude answer OP got when he asked Cupert (Cinder) for a refund at the end of August via Facebook.

Now who is cheap, sending everything with China Post instead of EMS?
Any answer from CUPERT referring to choice of the slowest shipping option? - No (or not yet).

By the way: @Charis113
Did you get your refund yet? You asked around 3 weeks before they actually shipped it.

Wow, UNBELIEVABLE they would respond that way when they are the ones at fault who are extremely unprofessional and have absolutely no clue how to run a company or even communicate. It's been a Cupert FAILURE at every single point of the way and they have the audacity to get rude when someone just asks for a refund? THEY promised delivery by July, it's now going on October.

I hope they are reading this thread (good they got banned from here) and eventually realize that they DO need all the support they can get or they will be bankrupt by Christmas and eventually figure out that 12 pages of pissed off people means THEY are the problem.

**** Cupert, and **** Cinder. Garbage company, through and through. No respect for the customers that backed them. Glad I steered clear of what looked like a somewhat promising product, misleading comparisons aside. I knew from the get-go they were shady with their misleading comparisons, glad I avoided.

Well, the response from @Apollonian gets me thinking:

What if Cupert produced 2000 Cinders initially. Then bit by bit producing more. Now the backers are waiting anyways. But to get the product ready to be available on Amazon.com they need to ship a certain amount of Cinders within a certain time frame, as Amazon needs to store them. So let's say they send ~800 Cinders to the US backers. Leaves 1200 Cinders for the other backers in the rest of the world. But Amazon needs around 2000 to make it worth it. In the meantime they produced 800 more.

Now they take those 1200 Cinders which were supposed to get out to the backers (delayed shipping plan was 31st of Aug) and add them to the shipping for Amazon.com (to reach 2000). Now Amazon.com will get everything in time but the Cinders for the backers still need to be produced. So while we were promised that EMS had already picked up everything, they were actually still producing the Cinders for the backers.

And maybe the shipping to amazon.com was more expensive to make it in time. So they decided to use the cheapest shipping option for the backers instead of EMS as promised. Like that they save the money they spent for the amazon shipment.

That would be an explanation for the delays (at least since Sept. 1st, and the "shipping mess") and explain why Cupert is not explaining anything.

Can I ask when you placed your order? I'm told I'm in "batch 3".
Of course he can tell you. But it's not about that.

Batch 1: USA
Batch 2: Rest of the world
Batch 3: Worldwide where there was a known (e.g. wrong address) or unknown (you did everything correctly but did not receive shipping nr) problem.

Dear backers,

Actually we aimed to wait with another update until we had a 100% trustable(and verified) notice from the shipping company, that the non-us packages have been processed and tracking numbers are working, but we receive many emails from backers being confused. And we fully understand.

We where promised several times each day, the past 3 days, that they would work, but they are not.
We are more than frustrated, as we only wish the packages to be in your hands.
Hopefully tomorrow, we can send out some good news to you all.

Best Regards

Team Cupert Technology

At this point I can't help but laugh. Very sad situation with excuses after excuses. Was hoping it would come in time for my 6S, but I have given up hope. Just placed an order for another tempered glass protector that will arrive by next week and will be placing the cinder in a drawer when it comes, hopefully before christmas.

Oh that is funny: So, somebody posted my theory from here on Cupert's IGG page.

And within not even an hour they commented 3 times and even sent an update to everyone.
Well, here is the thing: They wrote

For those having a blast making up stories, you apparently doesnt believe in we are being honest in every step and move we make and thats really a shame, [...]

They claim they have been honest with the backers. But why do they not answer any questions referring to cheaper shipping and why first EMS picked up the packages and then China Post delivers them. They are chosing which questions to answer and which not. If you see it like this they haven't lied, but neither told the (whole) truth. And with their lack of communication and refusal to answer questions, they are almost asking for people coming up with theories.

Let's say somebody buys bananas in a supermarket and steals some chocolate at the same time. Then the police asks him what he did in the supermarket and if he stole anything. If he says, he bought bananas and says nothing else, he was honest so far but hasn't answered the real question.

So why did they not say that the "theory" above is a lie and say what's up with chosing the cheapest/slowest shipping?

Then a backer states

[...] But I guess people are not happy that they will receive their SP later than people who will just order it on amazon.com.

Then Cupert answers:

We understand the frustration, but getting on e.g. Amazon or alike isnt related in any way to this crowdfunding campaign.

Shipping 1 big box to Amazon by DHL paying a large shipping sum, isnt in any way comparable with shipping out 1500 packages using a shipping company in order to achieve global shipment including tracking for $5.

Ohh, so the crowdfunding campaign and the backers investment which made their product possible has nothing to do with the fact that only then they could produce more screen protectors and selling them to just anybody quicker then shipping them to the backers?

Is this the way to say "thank you to the backers"? It sounds like, next time just don't invest in us and back our project if you have a problem that we care more about our new customers than those who invested in us.

Then Cupert states it's not the same, to ship 1 box to Amazon as sending 1500 boxes and get 5$ shipping with tracking. That is ridiculous. NOBODY SAID IT'S THE SAME! I only said that they making amazon their priority while they would not have the product ready without the backers. IS THAT FAIR?

And the claim it would be hard to get global shipping with tracking for 5$ is not true either. If you ship over 1000 packages you get a massive discount. Why can I order a single little product from China/Aliexpress for just 2,50 $ incl. free shipping & tracking via China Post? If you ship over 1000 items it's much cheaper than just shipping one.

Edit: My guess is that the tracking numbers from batch 2 (non US) will work at the same time as batch 3 (last batch) as they probably ship them together (cheaper). I assume that they will work on the 22nd of September (next tuesday)

We got the new shipping nr. one week ago. The package cannot be stuck for an entire week in China - who are they kidding?

@Backers from non-US

You can as well enter your tracking number here: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/faq/
One can check China-Post and EMS. For me it states:

Sorry, no result found for your parcel temporarily. Please make sure you enter the right number or try again later!

Below it explains the status:

In the Status Column, “Collectionmeans the post office received the parcel; “Opening refers to the step of customs check; “Departure from outward office of exchange” indicates the parcel was ready for shipment; the last two statuses are quite clear.

Cupert says the packages are at customs for how long?
If they are, then it should state "Collection" and not nothing at all.

Could the poster from above (Post 283)iPhoneInAR be you(edit 'your') person!

Do you mean me? No, I only have one Macrumors account.
I don't get how you got to this conclusion, nor what difference it would make.
Why would I use a second account here to post an update from the IGG page?

EDIT: Further, I just looked through iPhoneInAR's profile. He is here since 2010 and has only 11 posts, mostly about an iPhone 3G. I am registered here since 2008 (since I got my iPod Touch 2nd Gen.). I don't even see a reason why I then would have made a new account 2 years later.

Are you that user ;)?

Even their Amazon date is up in the air now. They just responded to someone saying the 21-22.

edit: lol now they just posted "We hope to go live before the 24th September." ffs I can't even trust them to get it before launch..

Sorry man, what I meant to say and thought I said was, could iPhoneInAR be YOUR man! I thought from the post he made above that he was in someway connected to Cinder from what he posted. I thought maybe he could be the person that copied your post.

Amazing the difference that just one letter can make.

Ditto for me.

I was the one who questioned them in the beginning and their thread was taken down. I got chastised by a few in this forum but truly hope I saved a few others from this hassle. I still do wish that once you finally receive the protectors that they will be the end-all be-all so that that this frustrating ride will be worth it.
