I've always purchased mine from Newegg but since there was a great deal on OCZ RAM via Dell.com (1x2GB for $10 shipped AR) I couldn't pass that up.

but anyways i just wanted to make a point that yes OWC seems like a nice site that i like but this forum is definitely feels like an OWC love-fest.

i don't feel an inordinate amount of love for them or anything, i think it's just 'cause they had their site updated the quickest that more people ordered from there....

actually, i'm a little annoyed that they didn't make it clearer that the modules weren't ready to ship....

ditto that. Their site said "Ships: 2 Days" when I ordered 2GB modules early afternoon Jan 10th and although I knew that wasn't a guarantee they really don't let you know up front that's a soft estimate until you get the order confirmation. I'll get over it if they ship this week.

Bought 4x2Gb modules from OWC.. havent recieved them yet nor shipped. Mailed them to get an idea when the modules will get in stock.

Sidenote.. missed the TNT courier with 20minutes (with my apple 2.8ghz octa.. *sniff*)

OWC = Deceptive

Add me to that list. Ordered memory from them Jan 9th. Site made no mention it was out of stock. My order status has some BS about it shipping once the item has been "allocated".

Deceptive practices in my book.

Just got a 2 gig stick for the open slot on my aluminum imac from crucial. Ordered on 1-1 (holiday) and had it on the 7th, I think. Cost was $66.98 shipped. Two and a half years ago I paid about $150 for a 1 gig stick for my ibook.

OWC now shipping

Just got an email from OWC that my 800MHz RAM has shipped.:) They've shipped by FedEx and it's scheduled to be here noon tomorrow.

Now if only Apple would ship the MP to put it in!

Ordered 4 2GB sticks from OWC and 2 500GB Samsung drives from Newegg this morning.

Have to say more impressed with Newegg at this point, since I got two confirmations from them (one that the order took place, the other that it was processed and accepted) within an hour. And have yet to 'hear' anything from OWC...

how 'bout this, since i've already got my MP, you go ahead and forward your RAM to me, and when mine ships I'll send it on to you.... hm? hm? hm?
:D

I phoned owc today and was told the 2GB 800 MHz qualified modules (at least mine which were ordered the 8th) will probably ship Friday, maybe Monday. I'm guessing people who are getting shipments now, ordered 1GB sticks?

Nope, I ordered the 8GB kit, so I am getting 2GBx4. Order was placed late on Tuesday, around 8pm (mountain).

I get mine from OWC and Ramjet. OWC seems to always have better deals. Best Buy does not sell Buffered RAM only unbuffered.

Type of Ram

Hello all. Just purchased my Mac Pro Octo with:

Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeo
2GB (2x1GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
One 16x SuperDrive
AirPort Extreme Card (Wi-Fi)
APPLE WIRELESS MIGHTY MOUSE
WIRED KYBRD/MAC OS X
Country Kit

I want to upgrade the ram from OWC and would like some advice. I am gonna go with the 8GB kit (4x2GB), but what is the difference between the OWC Netlist certified ram for $659 vs the OWC qualified ram for $399? Other than price is there a reason to pick one over the other? Thanks for the imput.:D

Eight 4 GB Modules From 1.800.4MEMORY @ < OWC's $2750

I'm at MacWorld Expo and at the 1.800.4MEMORY booth they said they could beat the OWC price of $2750 for Eight 4GB modules. They said they should have their pricing figured out and be shipping sometime next week. I think they hope so.

Am I the only one who wants to load her/his 3.2GHz 8-core up to the max? I don't want to cripple performance by scrimping on the quantity of RAM with 8 cores in there. That's still only 4GB per core which seems like not too much to me.

I've had good luck with this suburban Philadelphia reseller over the years. Haven't talked to Omni yet. ;)

Ramseeker.com still hasn't updated it's search engine to reflect the new Mac Pro RAM kit configurations - still showing 667 MHz mods.

Woah... Do you really need to take memory allocation per core into consideration? I totally wasn't planning on that.

My RAM order from OWC has arrived. For those that were concerned about OC'd 667 being sold as 800, these appear to be legit. OEM of the module is Avant - I can find a web site for them but they don't have a listing for this specific part as yet. However, looking at the their part numbers for the 667 modules, I can see an 800 in the ones I received. Sorry, I'm not going to take the spreaders off to look at the chip markings. Still no MP to put them into for a real test:(

Still waiting for crucial to stock them, OWC don't appear to be shipping yet anyway?
