Tiger v. Panther v. Jaguar

Interesting comparison chart of the different features between the different flavors of OS X.

I've just ordered my copy from the Apple UK store.

Can't wait. Just hope my Mac Mini can cope with this operating system. :D

If you look at Tiger on the Apple Store in the "What's in the box" section, it says a DVD, doesn't mention anything about a CD version...

It wiil ship with DVD only...if you want the CD you have to pay $9.95 and use the Order Form in the box. This information from the Install Page in a small box on the right hand side.

I wont be buying untill I can get some confirmation that I can install it without a DVD ROM. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/119709/
Looks like you may be out of luck, because on Apple's Store page for Tiger, it says:

What's in the Box
DVD containing Mac OS X and Xcode 2
Printed and electronic documentation

It wiil ship with DVD only...if you want the CD you have to pay $9.95 and use the Order Form in the box. This information from the Install Page in a small box on the right hand side.
What he said :)

 Apple UK is hopelessly out of date..if you want to see Tiger you have to visit the US site? They still have screenshots of Mail that are about 8 months old.

Good job finding that. I don't think people with CD drives will be too happy about having to mail away a form!

I wish I could find the new Rev B iMac as well... :D I also see the note on the iMac Hardware page that if you buy an iMac after April 12, you will receive Tiger for $9.95. No deal Apple...I want Rev B now!

I surely hope they are announced this week also. I don't want to wait until June. :(

Anybody from the UK remember the fun of getting Panther delivered from the Apple UK site on release day? we ended up getting it 2 weeks late!

Just 2 weeks, thought it was more than that.....

Tiger

Looks like Tiger Server 10.4 ships on the 29th also.I bet Apple was waiting for Server to be final in order to ship both at the same time.
Isn't Apple 29 now? 29th..29...hmmmm.... :D

I see what you're saying, but that can't be right because the clam shell ibooks are shown, and certainly the specs of the G3 powerbook are the same/better than those!

Please, read the screen...

Built-in FireWire

That is a property only ONE of the G3 PowerBooks and ONE of the iBook Clamshells have.

That makes them the lowest common denominator and quite surely not the most suitable for the task.

There may well be other reasons why the G3 PowerBook is not supported ( like f.ex it's funky SCSI interface ? )

I'm going to Regent St! Hmm, HHGTTG at 7pm (although sure Tube posters suggest 28 April) and onto the Apple Store at 11pm if it stays open. Otherwise will be a trip in on the Saturday morning...

I have a Pismo. I'm assuming it's actually supported because it has firewire and a 500 mhz G3. So it's at least as powerful as the slot loading iMac and the iBook shown. I read the screen, the Pismo was missing, and it should have been shown. That's my only point. But I certainly do appreciate the implication that I can't read.
