astacio is rattled by giving up that HR. The way the white sox play you have got to think these 2 infield hits and a walk will haunt him later on in the inning

like how its 3-1 with bases loaded

edit: walk, and it haunts him.

Yeah, but at least now the Astros actually have to score a run to keep the game going...

2 on, 2 out, top of the 14th... could be more Sox runs to come...

My word! Why doesn't Houston just realize they have a problem and call it a night???!!!

assuming houston does lose, i will be unhappy, because this could have been a great series. i know that there is a glimmer of hope for the astros a la the red sox last year but still.

i would love to see another 3-0 lead lost again, but it wouldnt be as good this time because it isnt the yankees blowing it.

ahhh all this world series talk makes me realize how i am a tigers fan....sigh.:(

Three down! One to go!

Here we go! Go Sox!

With the amount of times Barbara Bush was shown in her seat directly in back of home plate, they might as well have allowed her to call balls and strikes.

Go Sox! Let's make this a sweep! :) BTW- did anyone see Babs Bush there last night? Oh my was she bitter!
I didn't see big George there next to Babs.

I just got back from Chicago and MAN do they have WS fever there!

Every shop/store has a Go SoX Go! sign of some sort in their window or on their marquee.

Go (Red) Sox!

I think that I got my heart ripped out of me when the astros beat the braves in that 18 inning game. It seems like every year the astros kill us. Every Year... wow. I pretty much hate the Astros now. Go White Sox!!

Gee- so sorry! Next time we'll make sure to contact the writing team so it's exciting- just for you!

Hey, you can write it however you want. The fact is, most Americans aren't watching. The question for the thread was why, and I gave my answer.

Of course White Sox and Astros fans will be watching, the question is, what makes it compelling for someone else to watch? The way the White Sox's season went, it's simply not that compelling.

The games in this series seem to have been rather exciting, and maybe that will attract more viewers -- though the Astros had better do something soon, or it won't matter that the individual games are so good.

The problem is that nobody really loves or hates these teams, The reason ratings go up when a team like the Yankees play is because you either love them or hate them so you watch and root accordingly, This series had potential to be a great thing to watch but the games have been slow and the drama seems to be one sided with the White Sox getting the wins. These teams don't have as much a playoff history to get the average viewer excited and thats why the buzz is not as strong.

...and nobody outside Chicago seems to know there's a world series on.

In all seriousness, this has been the most unhyped and invisible World Series ever.

MacNut is right in the sense that the series is a one-sided match between low-profile teams. If Houston was putting up a fight people might care.

Oh well, the Indians gave the Sox a fight, almost all of our losses to them were by 1-2 runs this season so next year we're going to fight. I think we can beat them for the Division title in '06.

I'd give you that point. "Love-hate" and "fan"-atics are part of the mix in most sporting events. Maybe another Sox scandal would stir things up, for those who remember. :)

The return of the Black Sox are just about the only thing that would make this series interesting.

Which is a really sad commentary on the state of sports and fans these days. Here's two teams that haven't gone to the world series in how many decades? And it's not exciting? Wow. Why don't we just get rid of both leagues and just have Boston and New York play seven games at the end of the summer every year? Why not? It'll be "exciting" then right?

Exactly - I am a perfect example. The series is over now I think. The only thing I'm still curious about is if Clemens will retire.

NBA starts in less than a week

i'm excited about it... regardless of who is playing...
I've tried to get into it but I can't find an even flow in the series to keep me interested, plus the fact that I really don't care about either team.

Im curious as to what the ratio is of White Sox to Cubs fans in Chicago? Is it close to 50/50 or a bigger margin?

Hmm..It's probably pretty even. Some of us root for both. I used to, then the Cubs organization just really started to p*** me off. Wrigley Field's just become a moneymaking machine for the Tribune Company and the Wrigleyville area barowners. It's so NOT about baseball anymore it's not funny. I used to go to at least 3 games a year- now I can't afford a decent seat in Wrigley. So the Cubs lost me for those reasons. It's possible I could go back, but they have a lot to change before that happens.
