I'm interested in the 6.5" XS Plus. However, with it being a massive slab of stainless steel I'm concerned about the weight of this beast. My note 8 at 197 grams is pushing the limit.

I wish the 5.8" XS came in at like £700 which I paid for my iphone 7 128GB.
And then 256 around £750'ish but thats wishful thinking.

I'd love to pay less but I know its gonna be more lmao.

One thing that kind of sucks about the X/XS is that, while the notch personally doesn't bother me, we know it's going to shrink probably in 2019. I think this is the first time on an iPhone where Apple has an aesthetic design element that we know ahead of time is going to get less obtrusive, which will instantly date the X/XS, and that *would* bother me. You could maybe say that happened with the antenna bands on the 6, but at that time I don't think anyone was really positive that those would be improved. With the notch, if they had it for two years and killed it completely that wouldn't bother me, but more likely they will shrink it, and that will make the X/XS a lot less desirable, looking back.

I'm really on the fence. I LOVE my 8 to death but I'm also ready to try something new, but it really needs FaceID gen 2 and a smaller notch if for no other reason than we know it's inevitably going to get smaller, but likely won't disappear.

I reckon they'll keep the notch the same size until they're able to eliminate it completely. I can't see what benefit they'd gain from shrinking the notch? Huawei tried marketing the P20 with its smaller notch with "more notifications" and it doesn't look great at all having so much information in such a small space.

I can’t see it decreasing to be honest. It will stay the same or go when they can get the sensors without it.

You might be right. I don't think they will make it smaller width-wise, I was thinking more so vertically but looking at Apple's site, and the way the status bar icons fit spatially with the current notch thickness, they might not make it thinner:

There's still a little room to move them up if the notch did get smaller, but I don't know what kind of UI design implications that would have. Moving it up might push that battery icon a little too close to the corner of the screen for Jony's taste.
[doublepost=1535831652][/doublepost]I do also hope there is something good in store for the XS since there's always a pretty solid feature addition on the S models, but so far haven't heard anything...hope they don't consider the XS+ and gold the big feature add, because that would sort of be phoning it in IMO. Really hoping for FaceID improvements. Would really like to see ProMotion also.

Definitely will be heavier because of the stainless steel bands, all glass display and backing, and then add the wireless components inside the iPhone, plus with a case on it, but that’s just the trade off having a larger phone like this. I would rather have a lighter phone too, but I’m willing to make the sacrifice to have a larger display a bigger battery. in any case, I find myself adjusting to the weight rather quickly where it’s not an issue.
