Where the phones are manufactured should be logged as well. Maybe there is a pattern with the factories.
Absolutely not!
I got my first 6S Plus through Apple and their failed upgrade program (had to buy outright even with my good credit), placed an order with T-Mobile the very same day through their Jump on Demand. Got the new phone in 3! days. Since they offer each model $100 cheaper I decided to go with the 128GB instead. The first one was 64, both Space Gray, both factory C3, both week 37. The first one is Samsung, the other one is TSMC. There is no pattern!

It's possible that earlier rumors of TSMC using first-generation 16nm FinFET weren't true. Instead they were able to ramp up production and now they are using much better second-generation 16nm FF+ for Apple A9. Interested too see what Chipworks or Anandtech will report on this.

Hmm pretty dismal geek bench battery score:

6s /64gb /Samsung chip / 9.0.2

All apps closed and auto brightness off.

04:13 Hours 2531 score

Good news:

Barely got warm at any stage of the test , so can't be excess heat causing lower battery life.

I actually get over 6 hours in reality; probably because I have screen brightness really low.

Similar, good processor speeds in line with other Samsung chipped phones...

But give me a TSMC processor and an extra 1.5 hours battery life any day of the week !

You say auto brightness was off but what was it set too while you was testing?

I didn't bother to turn brightness right down as I always have it set very low anyway ( set about 5-6mm from lowest possible setting ) ; you think not turning brightness right down will affect score ?

I guess I could do another test tonight and see ....

You could do it again, but I did test brightness to minimun, flight mode same iphone 6s 64gb and got 4:05 hours as battery life.
I've an exchange and tsmc now will do the test again tonight. Unfortunately some areas of the screen are darker yellow especially top left :(

Would be very interesting to see what you get with the new phone !

Btw was the exchange because of the battery score or .......?

I'm not sure but I wanted to check my results with yours as I have a 6s 64gb but with tsmc chip. Haven't tested yet but will soon.

Do you guys run the battery test with dim screen selected?
I personally have. And for consistency will do the same tonight on new model.
I think you should as well disable autobrighness just in case. Turn on flight mode. Make sure you're at 100%. Kill all other background apps.

Samsung in my 6s gold 64gb, but am happy with battery life so far. Easily as good as my Samsung s5 with 2800 mah battery.

TSMC 6S+ 16 gig grey and my battery life is fine... ~12 hours screen time
Screen time as in actual screen on time? Or do you mean "screen time" measured by taking the usage time of the device? They are not even close to being the same in 99% of scenarios.

I don't understand the fuss. I have the TSMC and I've been reading this thread for the last 30 minutes. My battery has not shifted from 98% since starting to read. Both chips perform the same. Stop being so anal people. If apple say it's good enough, then it's good enough.

My screen on time is usually within 20-30 minutes of the usage time because nothing runs in the background on my phone. I've kept track with my old 6+ and it was always accurate to my actual use. I turn off all the extra garbage I don't use. I made a post about how to optimize that, and your battery, but every single person bitched about it.

Oh and not in reply to you, Samsung chips use more power than TSMC.
