Ok guys, game over. After all this bickering, it turns out TSMC stands for...

tsmc.jpg

It seems TSMC chips are producing a yellow tint on screens and users may also see a shadow on the display where rubbing it does not remove the mark. Other users have also complained of the home button getting warm.
No users with Samsung chips are seeing these issues.
Apple may issue a recall to swap out the affected CPUs.

popcorn! haha your funny

You guys are killing me! This chipgate has blown out of proportion. Really didn't care what chip I had but just had to do it lmao.

Apparently, I have TSMC. I thought I had Samsung cause my Geekbench processor benchmarks were ridiculously sky rocketing. I guess I'm good and won't be waiting for Apple's iPhone 6S Exchange Chip Program lol.

Congrats to all those who contributed nothing to the discussion. As if color, carrier, or capacity has anything to do with it.

At least some people posted their actual experiences with their given CPU. The rest who merely posted their chip brand are just yammering away taking up space. The thread should have had a poll, otherwise it's meaningless. And it's probably meaningless even with a poll.
Congrats on another meaningless post.

6s Plus bought couple days after launch and has the TSMC chip. I hadn't notice any battery life issues. But when I first set it up and restored from back up it was a little stuttery.

I also had it shut down one night and I had to hold the power and home button to get it to start.

Well this is my 6s battery life today with moderate to heavy usage on a Samsung A9. This is perfectly acceptable to me considering the size of the battery. I have no heat issues and no screen defects.

By apple's logic.

Samsung's A9 cost $20
And TSMC one cost $34

The cost difference is $14

The price of iPhone is $650

So it's only 2%~3% difference, then why don't you just use TSMC chip all the way?

TSMC definitely has way more capacity to swallow it.

No apps needed, no downloads, the info is right there in your iPhone...

Check my signature below for how to find which chip you have.

My guess, lack of supply.
Don't think so...Cuz the revenue of TSMC this month is far from peak

According to the source, Samsung is the first priority chip maker for Apple, TSMC is just a back up

But Samsung doesn't have enough supply

Although TSMC has better quality, but it's 70% more expensive than Samsung one, so Apple would rather use Samsung to force TSMC lower its price. TSMC will face pressure to maximize its full usage of capacity by lowering the price of chip.

TSMC only use 2 months to finish all the A8 production booked by Apple according to my brother who works at TSMC. You don't know how efficient it is....

It's worrying how the three most important components - display, CPU and battery - cost peanuts.

With all the pandemonium going on with the Samsung vs TSMC chip, how affected are you about this? Do you particularly care about the chip you get, desiring the best of your hard-earned smartphone, or are you not sweating about it?
Not sweating it. My Samsung chipped 6S Plus dies fast on FB about the same as every other IPhone I've had it loaded on, going back to 5s so it's business as usual for me.

I'm just enjoying this thread. All the other moms I know are hung up on Survivor or the Kardashians or Downtown Abbey and stuff like that. I just don't like sitting down in front of tv much, so I rarely watch more than NFL football and a little bit of HGTV on tv. And so they wonder where I get my drama fix. Mwahahaha, they have no idea!

This forum around IPhone release time has the best drama! And some sitcom humor thrown in.

6s with TSMC and my battery life seems a bit worse than my 6 was.

Thinking of switching to the 6s Plus?

If you don't want to install an app, I found that low battery logs also list what chip is in your phone. Privacy>Diagnostics & Usage>Diagnostic & Usage Data>LowBatteryLog-2015-XX-YY-ZZZZZZ.ips
Great find. I already knew from Lirum but I didn't care for that app and removed it. This is a better option and spares people downloading crap they don't need just to find out one bit of info.

Got the TSMC chip as well on my 6S+. Not sure if I would have been better off knowing, but it doesn't hurt me in the bit, I guess.
