Purchased the Space Grey. Loved the color. Changes in the ambient lights as well. Not Silver Not Midnight .. BUT I was having 2nd thoughts about Midnight. SO I ordered on to compare in my home environment and my 1st thopughts were WOW .. They after using it on my living room for 2 hours, I saw ALL the fingerprints. Didn't bother me too much. After typing for a while the lack of contrast colors on the keyboard irked me a bit. The next morning I woke up and it looked like a baby drewled all over it LOL.. I have sweaty hands so I came to the conclusion to return the Midnight for the main reason lack of contrast on the keys and body of the air. Now really loving my SG M2 Air and and have no regrets returning the Midnight. JMO Hope this helps someone.
Have any of you owned anything other than a MacBook?? In any other color than a light color? Serious question and please don't take it as an insult.
I have been buying gaming laptops for years and most of them have black plastic and it shows fingerprints like crazy. I have had black Razer laptops-fingerprints, Microsoft Surface 4 laptop in Black-fingerprints and I tried a Samsung GalaxyBook2 Pro 360 in graphite major fingerprints.
Like literally for years Windows laptops have had dark finishes and as anyone who has owned any laptop darker than space grey will tell you no matter the color, purple, blue, dark grey to black they show fingerprints because the oils in your skin basically have a sheen that contrasts on any dark smooth surface.
Yet people on the Mac forums I have visited act like it is some unique thing to Midnight MBA and that it is awful and gross and a reason to return.
I mean I get it if dark colors that show fingerprints are not your thing but it is not unique, and not unique to the midnight MBA.
The thing is all these comments about how gross the laptop looks kind of make me laugh because no matter what color you get I can guarantee you the fingerprints are still there but you can't see them on lighter colors.
I have for years had several microfiber cloths and a screen safe propylene glycol cleaning solution and every so often just wipe down my laptop. I do it no matter the color because I can generally see fingerprints on any color laptop and I like my laptop to be clean and last a long time.
To me personally I love having a dark colored Mac. It just looks cool and so different from the millions of silver and space grey Mac's out there. I have always admired the Black Surface laptops and had been wanting a similar choice from Apple for years. I got space grey as soon as I could but was very disappointed in the color as it felt rather bland to me. It wasn't dark enough to really feel black but not light enough to be vibrant and fun. Just sort of boring.
I do wish Apple would release more fun colors at least in the air series laptops like the regular iPhones. One of the things I loved about those CRT Macs was the fun color choices. Always got a smile just looking at them.
