iPad Pro preorders are approaching and I was curious as to what configurations everyone else had in mind, especially since I'm having a bit of difficulty making a decision myself.

I don't think I'll be doing any serious note taking on it requiring the keyboard, since I'm no longer in school and have a 2011 MacBook Air which functions very well. I will probably choose the space gray finish since I prefer the black bezels for viewing video content. I'm very interested in the drawing aspect of it since I do design work, so I will definitely be getting the pencil. I just don't know if I should spring for the 128GB model. $799 for the iPad is kinda the sweet spot, but I don't know if 32GB will be enough.

So the questions are:

- Which finish? (Silver, Gold, Space Gray)

- Which Capacity?
(Wi-Fi 32GB: $799
Wi-Fi 128GB: $949
Cellular 128GB: $1079)

- Accessories?
(Apple Pencil: $99
Smart Keyboard: $169)

- What will you primarily use it for?

Definitely 128GB and Space Grey.
I'm not sure whether or not I should add on LTE just in case. Would be really convenient for on the go but then again I guess that's what my iPhone + Tethering is for.
For accessories I'm certain I'll be getting an Apple Pencil, and in all likelihood I will pick up a keyboard case, either the Smart Keyboard or, if it's better, the Logitech Create.

I'm excited! Only a few more weeks to wait.

32GB Space Gray and Apple Pencil. I realize the lack of an 64GB option is just an upsell strategy much like the lack of 32GB in iPhone, but as a student I don't want to spend US$949 + US$99. Primary uses would be reading, annotating PDF books, annotating slides, and rough work when working on assignments. I plan on going all paperless with this iPad.

Space Gray
128gb wifi
Pencil, hoping they have a smart cover and silicone back, not going naked!

I want to use this a sketchbook/ rendering/ all around use device.

IF; and I say if, I were to buy one it would be 128GB WiFi but with my MacBook and the lack of 3D Touch and the new Touch iD Module (hope this turns out to be present) I see no point. Those are the current features that could edge me to upgrade my iPad but even then my Air 2 is powerful enough. If these features (that I said) are in the next 9.7" iPad I would opt for that instead. But again, we will have to wait!

How come you're assuming that the iPad Pro doesn't have 2nd generation Touch ID?

It is one of the things I do hope to be wrong about, but the fact Apple refer to "Touch iD" and the the "2nd-generation" makes me think it may only have the first. Not saying that the first is drastically inferior but if I were to upgrade, the noticeable features for me that I gained from my 6S Plus would not be present. 1) I have the artistic capabilities of a cruise missile so the pencil will do nothing for me, and 2 I have a retina MacBook so am not overly fussed about having a large iPad. But; lets assume next year the new 9.7" iPad and iPad Pro have all the features of the 6S and newer ones. I would still have to weigh up if I actually would benefit from the larger screen, seen as my mini is basically redundant now my iPad 9.7 is superior in specs I know that whichever iPad I own that has the highest spec will be the only one I use. Which carries on from how my mini 2 became my primary iPad over my iPad 4. Anyhow! I do hope we have the new Touch iD module and it seems I may give a new iPad a miss this year.

Silver

Wi-Fi 128GB: $949 - Simply ridiculous there isn't a 64GB model
- Accessories?
Smart Keyboard: $169 - Why it doesn't have a case instead of just a cover for it is beyond me.

Media consumption, internet browsing, games here and there, and note taking and writing papers for school.

128GB White/Silver to match my other iOS devices but probably wifi only, can tether to the iPhone.
Undecided on colour, I like them all to match but not too sure about a gold iPad Pro... Probably will end up with Space Grey myself as I have not owned a device with the colour, only a slate iPhone 5!

For me, 128 gig Space Grey WIFI only...for me don't want the keyboard...may get the pen later...after i sell a kidney to pay for it :)

i just want a top end larger ipad to surf, watch videos and play games. I don't think the viewing angle on the keyboard is going to suit me so i will need to find other options. I think the ipad is mostly useful without a keyboard - that's me and my taste.

Apple have a reuse and recycling program for that, you'll get a $50 iTunes gift card.

Space gray 128GB w/ LTE and Apple Pencil. Not yet sold on the keyboard (never really needed one for my regular iPads, not sure I'll need one for the iPP).

Hopefully Apple will sell a standard Smart Cover or Smart Case for it.

Apple.com says it will sell the usual silicon cases and polyurethane smart covers for it in Charcoal Grey and also in White.
