In a perfect world I would be buying a ipad air 3 and a Skylake based laptop of some variety. However, I can't wait that long as both my ipad 2 and macbook air have recently met their untimely demise and I am currently subsisting on a borrowed windows laptop that makes me want to pull my hair out.

These circumstances have pushed me to buying the iPP as I don't want to pay nearly the same amount for old tech.

I have to have 4g/LTE so I'm only given one choice in capacity: 128gb. I'll be buying the pencil but not the keyboard as I'll be getting a lifeproof case as soon as they are available. History shows that they take FOREVER to come out so I'll be babying it until I can get some protection on it.

I'll be using it mainly for consumption at home but I'll also use it as a test case for work productivity. I currently have two monitors and as our office is going paperless, the ability to have two readable tasks and to truly annotate/make notes on documents is hugely appealing. In a couple of months we are moving into a new office building and will have "hot desks" where you can sit where you like or even work on a couch so I would love to transition into using the iPP instead.

We're buying one for my wife, who's a physician. She liked the medical demos during the keynote and believes that her patients will like having an illustrated analysis of their health issues during their exams. After release we'll research how much space is needed for that app and its illustrations and then decide. I don't think we'll get her LTE for this purpose, but the pencil is a definite.
