2011 11 inch/i5/128GB SSD

In my opinion and personal tastes, the 13" takes away from the purpose of the MacBook Air to be ultraportable. 13" would take up just as much space as a 13" MacBook Pro it'd just be lighter and thinner. Whereas, the 11inch takes up less space and is still light and thin. Also, the 11 inch has about the same screen size as the 13" when it comes to width, the 13's screen is just taller. The only thing that the 13" has on the 11" is a longer battery life but the battery life on the 11 is suiting me great. Plus, it seems like the 11 inches are pretty much all shipping with the newer Samsung SSDs whereas the 13s are shipping with the older, slower Toshiba SSDs.

I love my 11" and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a joy to use and super powerful. I'm also glad that I didn't go with the i7 because it takes up a lot more battery and the fan kicks in a lot more. i5 is perfect, even when I'm doing video editing it handles everything like a charm.

I just bought the 13"/i5/256GB. I travel a lot and my old white Macbook got a bit too heavy to carry around all the time. 256GB because I need the space, i5 because people said it's not worth to pay more for the i7.

I got the 11" 4/128.

Only because the base 11" came with 2GB of RAM. Otherwise, I would have purchased the base model.

I probably won't go anywhere near 64GB of space used, let alone the 128.

I liked the 11's size, since I use my laptop purely away from a desk.

I got the 11", i5/128gb purely for its portability. I also own the 13" previous model, and I found that to be too large and heavy when compared to the 11".

Was there any reason you didn't go with the CTO 4/64 model for $1099?

I got the 11" Ultimate as an "ultra portable desktop" I use it connected to a monitor at both home and school. The i7 seemed to be benchmarking close to the 2010 MBP (minus the graphics). So it seemed like a nice deal relieving some tension in my shoulder as I never used the discrete card in my 2009 MBP anyway.

I picked up the 13in i7 1.8/256GB/4GB cause I wanted something small to take with me on the road or even to be a small couch computer. Also, I needed the space with the larger SSD. The extra 100mhz was a bit of future proofing and maybe a better retail value a few years down the line. Granted it's not much, but every bit counts.

However, I am still testing it out (13 days left), but I am really liking it so far.

To be honest, I was worried about the graphics performance since I watch MKVs and etc, but it does pretty well under VLC. Otherwise I was going to pick up a high-end 15in with a AR screen and a 2.3Ghz quad.

Which size and why?

I've got 13", needed extra work space for apps like Office, iWork. Not that much benefit for other personal use like youtube, reading news, etc, I realized these days. If it wasn't for my work I'd have bought 11" definitely.

Started with 11 i5 128

Returned it and got the 11 i7 256.

I discovered that I needed the space and the Apple Store only had the 11 "ultimate" for sale in store. But I am certainly not sad to have an i7 :)

13" i5 128 no need for the extra power, and will use an external hard drive also using it as my main computer

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

I just picked up a used 2010 11" ultimate for 600$, I got it because that's all I wanted to spend!!!

For what I do it us fast enough.

I was on a big dilemma on which one to get. I am a college student so I wanted a computer that was very light. Also, I wanted a small computer to take notes on class. I bought the 13" (256 SSD and i7) and loved it. I have been to the store to see the 11" and the screen size is so small for everyday use (use as your main computer). I love the portability of the 13". And because it is so light you can take a bigger screen everywhere you go. I have used the 11" at the store and it just makes my head hurt the small screen size. I owned a 10" laptop (before my MBA) and loved it at the beginning. But, when I had to write papers, do some research, or make a power point presentation I started to hate it so much. Go for the 13". Its light, its great and you get a very good screen size.

Agree completely. 11" is great but as a main laptop its prob not suitable for everyone because of screen and hand rest / keyboard room. I used one for 2 weeks and loved it for quick stuff but anything that required longer, some detail or you just wanted to see everything on 1 screen without scrolling a would long for a big screen.

13" i5 256. I wanted the bigger hard drive space and bigger screen but I couldn't justify the i7 because I won't really be using it to do anything too demanding.

but then again 13" screen is not "big" either :p

I guess I made it sound better than it was (or maybe it was just that good.) My old Macbook was it pretty amazing condition, 2.4 ghz c2d/2gb ram and 160 GB HD. Best Buy does its Trade-In based on some weird formulas--the jist of it was, my spec's were on the low end of the "higher level" specs. (i.e. 80-159 GB HD,) etc. So I got a higher value for mine even though it was barely better.

Anyways, I got 560$ for my old computer when the new MBA 13" was costing 1239.99. That's roughly 45%.
LMAO the best buy estimate tool has the same IQ as their associates...They will give me 2x as much money for my 2007 macbook than the 250 dollars that tool says it will give for a 2011 macbook air, assuming they are bound by the finding of the estimate tool in the store and have no override function. I would not be surprised if this were the case. They use arbitrary numbers from the specs like ram, cpu, and disk space to assign value to each component, however do not take into account ssd vs. Disk drive or faster ram higher res scene, and apparently somehow figure a c2d is more valuable than an i7. Who knows....

11" ultimate. Wanted to have the 11" form factor with not having second thoughts about processing power or storage. Not looking back! :)

i originally ordered the 128gb 11inch with the standard cpu.. coz i get a tiny discount in the store.. however, they returned them coz they didn't have the samsung ssd's, so i had to wait :p
Now i got mine and it turned out they ordered them with various cpus and hods.. so i could get the i7 1.8 ghz with 256 gb :) Still got my discount :D

(oh and yes i did get a samsung sad and LP screen (LG + phillips?) i'm happy about mine. and just for the record: i don't see that gradient at the bottom at all

MBA 11" i7/256GB SSD
Why: At home I use it with my 1920x1080 monitor and the APPLE Bluetooth keyboard.
On the road "the smaller the better" - 11" best option for me.

11.6/1.6 i5/4/128 - Already have a 27" iMac and i5 Mini and perfect size and weight for me.
