Omg! I’d forgotten about Omni, I used to occasionally buy it as a teenager - took days and days to read it. It was such a great magazine.
I recommend buying some Omni anthologies. They’re cheap and you can find some true gems in there.

Also… Asimov’s Science Fiction, Analog Science and Fact, and Fantasy & Science Fiction, are still published and are all quite good. The online Clarkesworld is pretty great too.

I see you are from the UK.

I live in some no where. A friend of mine is a fan of Manchester United and we didn't get EPL games broadcasted in mid-90s here. I asked him how did he follow the results, he said he waited for the weekly Match magazine to be in stores to read what happened :p

For years, over this side of the pond, the only dive magazine was really just Diver Magazine (ex Triton) you also got it if you were a member of BSAC - we never really got a handle on Skin Diver which was available in the odd newsagent (all warm water stuff and adverts) then with all the mixed gas stuff Aquacorps came out in the States which we all thought was great and it was followed with 9>90 magazine over here which was superb...

some how when you mentioned newsagent , it reminded of the ads spam in magazines. Some of them were shameless with a dedicated ad catalogue at the end. One time our teacher made us take magazines and calculate what the percentage of the pages was ads and how much of it was content , the results were surprising :p

none the less, I enjoyed printed ads back in the day(they were graphically awesome) like people used to enjoy tv ads, unlike in modern times where people use ad blocks not to see them.
