38UC99 for my nTB.

I just looked at this monitor at micro center tonight, and it looks amazing. It had several word documents in a row in addition to a multimedia project. The curved screen did an excellent job of enhancing the separation of each window. I have a curved Samsung TV that is nowhere near as impressive as a curved screen.

What does everyone think about the 32" dell: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/p...ell-up3216q-monitor?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs (can get it for £749)

I assume the DP can't act as the hub for the usb ports, so it would mean connecting three usb-c ports (1 display, 1 usb ports/hub, 1 power) which is a bummer. Having to connect just one would be ideal..
There are hubs that have pass through for the power situation. The USB hub thread I think is stickied, browse through it for some more options.

Sorry, wasn't stickied.. had to search for it.

I have a dell 32" 4k screen right now , was thinking of preordering the bourne design hub and just keeping what I got but I really like the idea of the screens with USB-C built in so i can switch between the macbook pro TB and windows desktop (like i did in the past with the LG 34" thunderbolt monitor).

27UD88-W - This screen would be a downgrade in size but thats ok, 27 is sufficent though I may miss some of the extra real estate. My main concern was i read when hooked up via USB-C it uses all 4 lanes and USB speeds of the screen drop to USB 2 speeds.

38UC99-W - This one caught my eye after reading this thread , as I get even more space but waiting for others to confirm if "docking" via USB-C has the same issue with lowering the monitors USB port speeds

Ideally my end game is to have a one cable dock and also one switch of the input on the monitor to go back and forth from my macbook to my windows desktop.

i've got the 13 non-touch version and bought the LG 4k Apple sells. (I don't like large monitors)

Anyone with this setup? Someone said it only really works in clamshell, for some reason. We shall see

btw, they shipped this a hour after I ordered it. So much for 4 to 5 weeks (or whatever it is)

Does anyone know whether we'll be able to connect a HDMI device to the new LG 5K monitor via some sort of adapter?

Such a shame it does not have more ins and outs (such as audio out - this would negate the need to use headphone jack for connection to an amp making it truly 1 cable to dock).

Using my 2011 27" iMac as a Target Display via Thunderbolt.

I remember buying it when it first came out and thinking, this feature is going to come in handy one day...

First review of the 4k (looks quite big actually)

Sure it looks big becuase of the video, but it's 21.5" which is about as small as they get these days. Also, the guy said it was; "so small, it looks like a toy monitor", which suggest extreme smallness, no? :D

Anyway, i'll have mine soon. I just like the whole USC-C dock thing about it. And, I like the looks more than what Apple does with these (or did ;) - Save some cash because of that also)

Please post a review when you get it :D

I like that all three ports on the back are usb3.1 (5k version only) - I hate that I can't connect anything else to it :(

Would love someone to try it with a few USB-C-to-HDMI adaptors to be sure. Same for USB-C-to-DP/mDP...? (I'd take an early punt on no displays working from the LG 5K's though.)

One issue is that the 15" MBP's support a total of 6 display lanes. Each LG 5K takes 2 of them, the built-in screen takes 1, and 4K or lower res AFAIU take 1 each. So it'd be REALLY interesting if you could plug 4K/1440p screens directly into the back of the LG 5K's USB-C 5Gbps ports, using adapters?

As for audio, you can get cheapie USB-C audio interface adaptors, I believe (certainly some more in future, or use a C-to-A adaptor for current A interfaces). So just plug one into back of LG 5K and you're good to go.

I totally forgot about the iPhone and headphone-gate haha - so USB-C to 3.5mm adapter should be easy to come by, thanks! :)

I should add that I'll be trying both HDMI (to a 1080p TV) and DP/mDP to 1440p Apple Cinema Display (not the Apple Thunderbolt Display), when Apple finally release the LG 5K's for sale!

...my maxed-out 2TByte 15" arrives tmrw too, hurray – better not be faulty!

Note: that video reviewer got it slightly wrong, as he kept mentioned the 4K being a Tbolt 3 connection in, when it's just vanilla USB-C, hence only offering USB 2 (0.5Gbit) speeds out. Only the 5K is Tbolt 3 in, hence this offering USB 3 (5Gbit) speeds out.

Do you mean the Dell? Got a link to the one you bought?
The LG I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Only comes with a standard full size Display port to Display Port cable, thats why I had to buy the cable I listed above.

The dell comes with the mini display port cable, I thought they both did.

The LG was backordered and Amazon said i'd get it Dec 2-5th.. just got an update email from Amazon saying it will now be here Nov 29th.
