Mighty mouse- its thin, light and the cable is exactly the right length to be plugged into your laptop while you use the keyboard. Not so good if you use 3d programs as the middle button click aint too clean.

its ergonomically uncomfortable, its too flat.

I have the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard, and haven't had an issue with either of them. I also use a Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse 500 when I'm on the road and it works pretty well.

I've also got a few other mice here, a basic Logitech USB corded mouse and two full-sized Microsoft mice, all 3 work great on my MacBook Pro when I've used them.

Hm, i want to buy one to.

Should i go for the

- VX Revolution (Wireless USB)
or the
- Logitech V470 white (Bluetooth)

Some things to consider

Bluetooth mice do not need a receiver which is a plus point.

Bluetooth mice tend to use two batteries rather than one, so are heavier. Personally I prefer 1 battery. Find somewhere where you can try both mice (make sure they have some batteries installed) to test the weight.

Bluetooth mice can suffer from WIFI interference as they use the same 2.4GHZ frequency and WIFI and cordless phones. I have also found that bluetooth mice tend to be a little less responsive and jerky.

RF mice require usb receivers that stick out of the side of the laptop 30mm or more. The permanent use of a USB port can be a problem of the 15" models. The 17" MacBook Pro has three USB ports, so this is less of a problem on this model. The Logitech VX Nano has the smallest receiver at around 5mm and as a result can be left in the USB port all the time without fear of breaking the receiver or the USB port itself.

You can use one battery with the mighty mouse

I am a gamer. I tried loads of different mice. Personally, after all the testing, I still prefer the Microsoft Intelli 1.1 mice. It shouldnt be more then $10 on ebay and really does a good job.

+1 for the Logitech VX Revolution.
I use it with Steermouse, and didn't install the Logitech software.
I've programmed the search button to activate the Dashboard, and the two side buttons for Expose.

Sorry for the offtopic post, but what button # is the search button (in Steermouse)? I also use the VX Revo w/ Steermouse, & can't figure out how to re-configure the search button..

any other mouse that has a vertical scroll?? i have seen a4tech, logitech, ms, razor, keninstone, but didnt find one, only apple has 360 scroll.

i'm so used to vertical scroll of mighty mouse,... i would like to replace my MM, it is not comfortable at all,... ( i just know that to use MM, you dont grab the mouse, but just put your hand on top )

The best mouse for gaming/overall use: Razer Diamondback Salamander (Mac Compatible) or if you dont mind white: The Razer Pro|Click mouse.

Logitech v470. It's the first bluetooth mouse that doesn't drive me nuts with lag/tracking issues. tried the vx nano but didn't like it's feel as much as the v470. Must install the logitech drivers though.

Otherwise the Microsoft notebook mouse is a USB mouse that is still my favorite for use with a laptop. The black version feels like rubber and it is pretty comfortable.

i think corded is still better than cordless (more precise) but the 470 after tweaking it's settings is pretty darn good.

Which mouse is better for new MBP?

I just ordered my new MBP. I am researching mice and have found that generally speaking, the following 3 Logitech models are always highly rated. I am having difficulty figuring out which to buy. The difference between the MX and VX models is apparent to me, but I am having a hard time discerning the comparative benefits of the VA Revoution vs. the VX Nano. Any comments/thoughts are welcome. I want to order this in the next day or two.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse

I also just bought a new MBP, and this is the mouse I chose:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Blue...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204632419&sr=8-2

It's the Logitech v470. The benefit it has over the others is that not only is it a laser mouse instead of optical, but it is ALSO bluetooth, meaning no little usb adapters to plug in. It works really well for me and does what I need it to do. It's not a gaming mouse, and it doesn't have a whole slew of extra buttons, but you can program all of them to do whatever you want.

I'd say go with the MX Revolution. I own one myself, and the thing about it is it's a little teeny bit bigger than the VX, plus it has the side flare. Regardless of what people say, having the scroll whell on the side near your thumb is fine.

If price is a concern, you can find them for about $50 shipped on eBay.:)

the thing i hate about the mx is the rechargeable battery. i hate having to charge it every week (which later turns into every three or four days). i'd much rather stick a double-a battery in there and forget it for a couple months.

It's coming tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday...!

FedEx has my MBP 17. It is scheduled to arrive on the 18th.

I bought the VX Revolution and tried it with my dying Dell. Ergonomically it feels just right.

Then I visited a friend with a MacBook and he has the Bluetooth (470). I was having buyer's remorse....because his does not use up a USB port.

I already opened the VX Revolution...... but I could keep that for the Dell and still get myself the 470. Thoughts? Stupid?

Am also still obsessing over cases and sleeves, but that's for another thread.........

:)

Go with the 470. An extra USB port is always good.

the great thing about the vx is that you can stow the wireless receiver into the mouse when it's not in use. try the mbp out with the vx first to see how you like it. if you find yourself needing that extra usb port, get the 470.
