I must admit, the HP mini I replaced my iBook with was indeed quite a bit faster.

Well yeah now. Back in 2009-2010 there were some slow netbooks ;)

I prefer OSX for laptops. As of right now, I rather take my iBook G4 to work than my C2D Black Macbook. My co-workers are pretty jealous of my iBook thou lol (They have netbooks)

Well, I purchased my netbook in July of 2010, and it was honestly the right decision for me at the time. It was faster, more portable and had a better battery life. But, it did age rather quickly; by the beginning of this year, it was turning into quite the dog. :p I actually purchased my Black C2D MacBook to replace it. :)

I installed an SSD into my daughters 3 year old or so netbook after her hard drive failed and it's made a whole world of difference, with so little RAM (1Gb) I guess it does a lot of disk swaps once you load more than one app - anyway she reports it's like a brand new machine now and well over twice as snappy as it used to be.

My CD MacBook would still be around if it didn't leave me out of iCloud. I was finally able to get an iPhone and had to be all in. When I sold it it ran smooth for everything I needed, except for being a bit sluggish while playing Farm Town...

Geez, y'all are really starting to make me regret selling my iBook G4 a couple years back for a netbook.

I love my old school Apple stuff. It used to actually do work in college lol. Many moons ago. Heck, like 10 years ago lol.

But even with a low end netbook with an Atom processor in, you'd be amazed what 10+ years can do lol

My G5 is amazing, Im not gonna lie it cant do most of the things my MacBook Pro can do, but I love it, once I do some upgrade this thing will be awesome. Even as it is I use it more than I use my MacBook Pro. I got it with a Cinema Display for dirt cheap on Craigslist.. did feel a little awkward carrying a huge Mac with its monitor through a McDonalds though hahaha

It is always a keeper. Once you love it, you would always come back to it.

I have a modern mac mini, and I use it just to experience whatever that is new in terms of software. After a couple of minutes with mavericks the interest dies down. I keep going back to my quad G5, or to my 1.42 DP PMG4, or to my 1.67 PB.

Yesterday, I have imported pictures from my camera with aperture on my Quad. And it is just a breeze. For most things that I do? Who needs a more modern Mac? And it serves as a conversation piece as well whenever I have people visiting.

Yep, I use my MacBook Pro for intensive work/new software, Final Cut Pro, Adobe CS6, Netflix, Java Class Sessions. But all of my basic needs are filled by the G5 :D

Makes me glad I'm not into YouTube/Facebook games/"device integration" and the like. I'm a "do-it-yourself" and simple kinda gal; I don't mind manually transferring files to and fro, and my entertainment needs are usually quite satisfied by Halo 1/The Sims 1/forums like this one. :p

I love messing around with old tech and pushing it to see what it can still do; currently, I'm installing a Linux flavor on my dads' 14 year old laptop. Gonna see if I can't get it to access the internet tethering with my phone, and go from there. :)

Heck, nearly half of all my writing is done on my Apple IIc! :p

I use YouTube for learning stuff, like how to change the lightbulb in my car (it's late, I'm curious, and I don't want to go outside to try to figure it out). It's unusable on my iMac though. Games.... that only lasted a week or so. Ha.

I do love the integration with iCloud but there are other options if needed. If you have an iPhone and JUST want to stay with iCloud, you might be out of luck, but Google, Missing Sync, and Spanning Sync work great.

And I need to get The Sims! Thanks for reminding me. First off I need more RAM.

Did you ever decide on a desktop?

Sims and SimCity. The Sims 1 runs great on my iMac, haven't tried 2 but it runs well enough on my PB but sucks battery. I think SimCity 4 would be slow but then there's SC3K. I use MacTubes for YouTube and it works good.

I have the same iMac as you but a 17", 768MB RAM and a 80GB HDD. (I'll probably be upgrading it to 2GB soon and a new bigger, faster HDD)

For some reason, I'm much better at comprehending reading written instructions than I am at watching someone in a video explain and show something. Pictures are sometimes helpful though. :p

I am a bit hindered by the lack of SkyDrive syncing ability...but then again, my MacBook with Snow Leopard has the same problem.

I actually couldn't resist playing The Sims for a couple hours yesterday after I posted this. :D Yep, both my (main) Macs need RAM, one needs a fan, one has a (possibly) dying screen... unfortunately I'm in no financial situation to do a thing about any of this. :(

Actually, I was never truly looking for another PPC desktop - my eMac I've had for four years now isn't going anywhere. ;) Honestly, I was just bored one night browsing PPC desktops on eBay, curious about the prices they go for nowadays, and happened to wonder the question in the thread title.

I get stuck on stuff like 10 more bets you will always win. He has loads of videos. Kept me up late last night. Good thing I'm on vacation.

Just curious what you sync SkyDrive with if you're using Macs. Can you use another service or is it from work or something?

And I looked on eBay for used copies of The Sims. Wish I had kept mine now, but I don't think I and the Mac version.

A good article on Cracked or The Onion has much the same effect for me. :p

Honestly, I know Dropbox would work for both my eMac and MacBook, but the interface just isn't to my taste; I love SkyDrive's look and feel. Plus, the 7 GB of space for free is very handy. (I know you're you're supposed to be able to refer people to DB and get more storage, but I know of literally no-one who would be interested in it anyway.)

I guess I was lucky enough to find my copy at a Goodwill for $10 a year or two ago. Still no luck with SC3000 though. :(

While I absolutely love syncing my contacts/calendar/tasks/reminders to the cloud I do not have one Word/Pages/Whatever file synced up there. I just don't feel comfortable doing it. Not like the government will find it but I don't trust it yet.

As an example my employer blocks iCloud.com. Which is crazy because we're probably the largest iPod customer in Texas. Either way, I'd hate to be somewhere where I need my document that maybe doesn't have internet access and my document is up in the cloud. I could carry a USB drive but then those two documents wouldn't be identical and synced. I'd get too stressed out about it all.

For me, the cloud is just backup most of the time - all the files I store in my SkyDrive account also exist on either/both of my Macs; but, they're there in case something happens to one of them.

With that said, though, none of my super important files are in the cloud: a big reason why even though lack of cloud integration with my Macs is a bit annoying, it's not a enough of a bother to make me budge and get newer hardware/software. :p

Pretty much my view as well, the only thing I am super paranoid about are my photo's. They are copied everywhere (NAS, Laptop and Desktop) as well as Flickr (subscription/limitless account size) which makes all handy to view on my phone without using any memory up as well as act as an offsite backup.

Well, technically, if you own the PC copy you would be entitled to the Mac as well because all you're really buying is the code to install the game. ;)

So do I just walk in to BestBuy, grab one off the shelf, and walk out?

Can't you take a hint? But I'd love to see you try that. It would be hilarious for everyone if you came back and posted your results. ;)

If you have the PC disk and code then you can be entitled to the Mac version of a game too because they use the same codes in most cases. That clear enough for you?

Sorry, I'm pretty dense. And I don't like doing whatever you're talking about doing.

Either way, I've sold the discs.
