Reading through this thread, to which I have also contributed largely, it now seems entirely pointless to carry it on.

Mariokarter posted asking for advice as to what to get, he was then told the various options that would suit best and how to implement them but still wants to do it his useless way as he keeps arguing his point.

Its just plainly pointless you asking and everyone else posting when you have no intention at all to listen to anyone. Many people have made great recommendations but you are just not listening.

This is a thread that should be wastelanded.

My decision is anything but final. These are products which haven't even been announced yet. I could easily be swayed to the iphone if it gets a huge carrier subsidy.

Thats why I'm getting an iPhone.

so I am looking for 32 gig iPhone.

32 GB iPhone would work great for me.

If I had neither, I would go with the 32GB iPhone for the added features over the Touch.

This will be especially true if he rumored iPhone has GPS and 3G.

32gb iPhone for sure. I'd love 64gb, but why carry around a Touch when I'm already carrying around an iPhone?

32 GB iPhone all the way.

Mind if I ask which part of music syncing you're having trouble with? Not trying to be a smartass, but I find iTunes' music syncing options to be plentiful and excellent.

32gig iPhone...

Definitely the iPhone!

a 32GB iPhone is what I'm after.

2 different devices and it depends how much GB you need.
I have about 40 of music, but I could fit my music in 32 gigs.
and I need a new phone. Iphone :D

whatever happens with the touch is fine with me, i really want a 32GB iPhone.
I have my iPod Nano for the gym which only hold 8GB of music which is fine for the gym. the 32GB iphone would be nice for more videos and music on my phone and while traveling.

I do like the camera function of the iPhone. So if the space is not an issue, I'd go for the iPhone.

Some excellent advice:

I have quite a few GB's of music on my computer, but there's no way you can possibly listen to 50GB all the time, can you? I know it's irritating when you want to listen to a certain song/album and realize that's the one you decided NOT to add to your iPod/iPhone but I think that's how it's going to go. I'd take the 32GB iPHone.

32 iPhone.

32GB iphone... enough said

Me too! (for an iPhone)

More good advice:

I have to get (3) iPhones for my family plan, so 32GB is looking good! I use smartlists and rotate my smartlists and my movies on a regular basis.

iPhone 32Gb I'll use the phone and text part more.

iPhone quite easily

I mean, I love the phone just for being a phone and the iPod makes it even better

More good advice which you obviously haven't bothered to read

Hey mariokarter,

I think you're making this harder on yourself than you need to. Checking and un-checking songs is certainly a pain, but you don't have to manage your music like that.

I'm in a similar situation, with a 30gb iPod and a 60gb music collection. The way I roll is to have only certain smart playlists sync to the iPod. These include:

- 3+ Stars
- Must Have Artists ("artist" contains "___")
- Must Have Albums ("album" contains "____")
- Unrated Random (limited to 4000 songs)

That way, I always have the music I always want, plus a whole bevy of songs in case I feel like playing my whole library on random. The unrated random playlist refreshes everytime I sync my iPod. Also, I never have to worry about checking and unchecking songs.

This may not work best for you, but it's worked out pretty well for me. Hope this helps.

As for the general question you asked at the beginning, I'd like the 64BG touch. I have no desire to pay $20 / mo for the internet. Though, if I could do a pay-as-you-go data plan, and only add it to the iPhone for a particular period (say, on vacation), then I would definitely get the iPhone.

Cheers,
DCBass

More good advice again obviously ignored:

DCBass answered your music syncing question perfectly. It's all about playlists, especially smart ones. For me, it's *better* than syncing my whole library - after a few minutes of playlist-setting, I can now shuffle all the music on my iPhone and not run into audiobooks, long classical pieces, stand-up comedy, etc.

The headphone button will unfortunately have no effect on an iPod touch.

My 40 GB 4G iPod came with both.
Granted, that was a few years ago.

And to answer the question, I have absolutely no interest in the iPod touch, so the answer is easy for me.

Thats a fairly definitive answer staring you right in the face:

I'd take an 8GB iPhone over a 128GB iPod touch.

Seeing as I currently have just under 9 GB of music in my iTunes, a 32 GB iPhone will suffice. Hell, a 16 GB iPhone will do me justice lol.

personally i would go for the iphone. the ipod touch always seemed like a poor mans iphone. however for my entire music collection i refuse to use itunes anyway. takes to much time and looks ugly with out art.

iphone hands down.

Honestly, I don't really care for the ipod touch much. It's too 'glitzy' for just a music player, and the classic has a much better design for its purpose PLUS allows much more memory. <-- What I suggested the driving factor for me on the iphone is it's all-in-one factor. the touch doesn't have the phone, camera, or internet access (while away from a hot spot). It's just a silly concept.

32gb is plenty of memory anyways. I mean what is that like 8,000 songs? Why would you ever need more than 8,000 songs at your fingertips?

Then after all that help, you basically come out with these two entirely confused replies. Ask yourself what was the point in asking if you had no intention to listen to anything anyone said. Its just ridiculous.

thanks for the replies guys. I'll likely end up with the touch, the music syncing thing just bugs me I suppose.

My decision is anything but final. These are products which haven't even been announced yet. I could easily be swayed to the iphone if it gets a huge carrier subsidy.

Once again I say to the wasteland!!!!

I will give both the a) one device phone and music answer and b) there are no circumstances where I must have more than 20GB of my library in my pocket.

If the PAYG rumours are true then I'm walking into the Regent Street store and getting the 32GB iPhone asap.

Nice one!! I would be right with you if I was anywhere near London, and could afford the 32GB lol.

Im thinking its gonna be expensive, I will have to have serious talks with the bank manager ;)

Santa, are the cliff notes available to that post?

Have been working on them ever since I posted, its been difficult though :)
