My iMac G5 had white bezels and white keys. I survived it. It was fine.

Agreed, the new iMac doesn’t have a pro look - these are not really pro machines.

I contend that:

- in the absence of new Mx machines that are mean for pros (arguably the MBP M1 isn’t really pro but a prosumer tag-gap)
- people are gnashing their teeth as they try to map their desire for a new machine that they feel befits their pro requirements onto these new iMacs
- and then displacing their rage onto these machines when they (unsurprisingly) fall short.

I think we all need to be patient and wait until the fall.

You apple apologists are truly something else. Yes it is a different line with is differentiating feature being its thinness. If the Air line is a line that was not meant for office environments it would not have featured a color scheme similar to the Pro from the onset nor would it have featured similar internals. Meanwhile the iPad Air and Pro and regular iPad all share the same color scheme.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it would be a stroke of marketing genius as it would push people who really want black bezels and keys to bump up to the MacBook Pro when they wouldn't have otherwise. I would not be surprised that if they go down this route, that they would have MacBook Pro-exclusive colors.

But the consumer ends up being the big loser. You have to spend more money than needed to avoid white bezels and pastel colors.

I had no choice but to upgrade to the M1 MacBook Air. Two prior MBPs with faulty keyboards had me clamoring for the fix to all of the issues from 2015-2018/2019. But now that I see these leaks, I'm even more happy with my purchase decision. While I'd love to eliminate the bezels on my machine, I would much rather the bezels be black than white. And I'm very happy with black keys, as well. I think the M1 MacBook Air is going to be a very popular choice for those who can't rationalize purchasing a $1999 M1X MacBook Pro but don't agree with the design choices that Apple made with the 2021 MacBook/MacBook Air.

Just pulled the trigger on a refurbished M1 MBA 512SSD/16RAM for under $1300. Just started Grad school and upgrading from my 2013 MacBook Pro. Pretty excited to try out the hype machine. Haven't seen one in-person yet believe it or not.

Pulled trigger early simple based off white bezels and keyboard on next MBA. Simply don't want that and the fact that it is rumored to jump in starting price. No brainer for me.

Consumer level laptop - colours, white bezel and white keys seem fun and fitting for the average Joe or Jill.

Not so sure about losing the iconic (and easier for typing) wedge shape though.

Want the gravitas of black bezel, black keys, and less colour.... better wait, and pay for the Pro.
