I work for a software company that deals with the use of the iPad on a daily basis.

We have a total of 7 iPads, combination of Mini Retina, 2, 3, Air: All white

4 iPhones all white

I'm the only one with a Slate 5 and a Space Grey iPad Air. Never thought about it until now, I feel like the white stands out to much.

Now that I think about it more, all our customers have white iPads. We have one company that has 20 iPad's and almost all of them are all white except 1 to 2 black ones.

Get what you like. You can always purchase a nice black leather case.
I guess you can say they look unprofessional but really it is your choice especially since you will be buying it. The reason why black seems so much more superior to white ipads in a business setting is because most people use ipad 2 at work because they are cheaper but have the same general functionality and nobody cares about retina display at your work...As long ad your getting your job done. Also company/school issued ipads are always ipad 2 in black because they are crazy cheap and companies can buy 30 at a time. The black looks more "uniform" and serious because thats what it represents and they white represents a more playful attitude but nobody cares what color you have so go for it...my personal opinion is i would get black because i dont like the white bezel...it is dull to me but that is totally my opinion

But the iPad 2 comes in white as well? At our school, all our iPads are white iPad 2s (recently upgraded to white iPad 4s.)

I hear all white paper is now being banned for the same reason  all paper must now be black

In my office, I see a mixture of white and black iPads though black does seem to dominate.

Personally, I'd not really think much of it, and never really noticed until I stumbled upon this thread.

I know I told my workers that white ipads are banned from the office. Black only. White is unprofessional and kiddy.

What? That's just dumb!

Shes also banned white paper because it looks too much like ipads ;)

Apple makes more black ipad 2s than white so the black ipad 2 is more often available to buy in bulk. You act like i have something against white ipads...and i dont . Just stated my opinion

Not at all. I was commenting on you saying white looks playful and black looks more serious.

The ironic thing is paper white paper has been used for a long time. A white iPad just looks like a white sheet of paper with an image on it, an image that can change. It fits right in with white text books and white paged writing books.

So my question.... is a white iPad unprofessional? Others I work with who have iPads have black iPads, but I am considering white and am wondering if it will come off less executive-ish if you know what I mean.

Opinions?

Thanks!

I have the silver (white) iPad Mini w/Retina and I use it at work all the time and in meetings. No one gives a hoot about it, my use of it or its' color. It's a tool to be used and I use it.

I'm sure if it were hot pink I'd get some comments from others, but having a white one is a non-issue.

I drive a white truck and no one seems to care about that, so why would a white iPad be any different?

Not saying you're wrong, but do you have any proof that Apple 'make' more black iPad 2s that white? And I'd imagine that they both have the same availability to buy in bulk, regardless of colour.

Many people I work with have gone with white iPads and iPhones.
I have gone with the white iPhone for work, myself.
The choice stemmed from differentiating between personal and work i devices.
