White iPhone 4 Canceled Entirely?

News about Apple's much-delayed white iPhone 4 continues to fly fast and furious, with a new claim from Boy Genius Report suggesting that the model has been canceled entirely instead of merely delayed until next spring as the company announced yesterday.
According to a previous source of ours, we have been told that Apple in fact has no plans to release the white model iPhone 4. Our source hypothesizes another "delay" communicated around March leading us into an iPhone 5 release time-frame in June / July.
Initial reactions to Apple's announcement yesterday ran along a similar vein, with many forum posters wondering whether Apple truly would release a white iPhone 4 not more than a few months before the company presumably refreshes the entire lineup with the fifth-generation iPhone next June or July.

The source of the latest report also speculates that relative silence from his or her manufacturing contacts could suggest something other than a manufacturing issue is responsible for the delays. Numerous reports over the past few months have made claims regarding possible reasons, with the most recent coming just today and asserting that Apple is experiencing difficulties with light leaking into the iPhone through its white body and affecting camera performance.

How hard is it to find find white plastic? Maybe they should contact lego. They seem to make matching white plastic toys that last forever. Just a thought...

They may as well cancel it. Though hopefully what they learned can be used to make a white iPhone 5 from day 1.

Are you being sarcastic? I hope you are, otherwise I fear for the ignorance of
Humanity.

The whole white iPhone thing cracks me up...

Apple, the company consistently leading the consumer electronics market with innovative designs, elegant software, and easy-to-use end-to-end solutions is brought to its knees...

...by the color white.

What about all the DIY white iphones? Like engadget's? Are they having problems with the camera washing out photos? Or any light leaking through? It seems as if they would have said something about it if it was true.

Seems fishy to me.

I don't get it, why don't they just give it a coat or two of black primer, THEN give it a coat of white paint.

It would make 100% sense. Never understood the logic of releasing one in the spring ahead of the expected next model release in June/July.

That would totally make some sense. Maybe they tried it but it didn't look good. I didn't want the white iPhone though so the delay doesn't bother me. It is terrible that they were unable to release it when they said they would. One would think that Apple would have determined this before they announced that they would release one.

Disapointed I waited 2 months and finally caved and got a black one, but this is the best move for Apple.

Save colors for the next iPhone version. They should keep silent about this, just let it die or let a SJ customer e-mail answer it once and for all.

That is a shame for those waiting for one. Black or white, its a fantastic phone so you can't go wrong with either.

Verizon exclusive perhaps?? :)

It looks like there's something underhanded going on and probably some back door deal in the works. C'mon! How hard is it to produce a white iPhone? Give me a break! I'm not buying that "home button color match" excuse  I wouldn't be surprised with next years Verizon iPhone launch, white would be an available color. Verizon probably paid Apple a hefty sum to keep white exclusive to them.
