White iPhone 4 Delays Claimed to Be Related to Color Matching

Can you substantiate the claim in bold? I work in a large company and deal with our marketing and PR people all the time; and I think most of them would advise against advertising a company's problems. Right now there is some grumbling on message boards; but if Apple made a public statement, the issue would appear on the front pages of the NYT and WSJ.

Exactly. It's just a colour, yet a lot of people here and other places seem to associate with lifestyle.

But c'est la vie.. perhaps they bought the Black phone, being as conscious about their confidence as they are, to make up for something in or on them that they lack.. Gives them back something, that without it, they feel inadequate.

All just suspect. ;)

Apple didn't seem to care about releasing two generations of iPhone with cheap plastic backs that form hairline cracks. Why do they care so much about this?

Is the answer.

I'm waiting for the white 4 to upgrade my (white, natch) 3G, mainly because I love the old skool retro iPod look. Which means grey trackpad, so I don't see a problem with a matt silver or grey home button.

Sure, white would look sleek but seriously, 5 months to sort this issue out? :rolleyes:
 
Or they could release a U2 'special edition' with a red home button. No colour matching woes and it's not like Apple doesn't have form with something like this.

I hope Bono doesn't read this and get any ideas, though.

should I continue? Companies announce voluntary recalls all the time. Why? Because they announce they have problems and they are willing to fix the problems.
 
Well...we all know how OCD the forums are..
Can you iMAGINE the sheer mass of posts and threads make because the home button is "yellower" (off-white) than the rest of the white of the phone? There are threads about buttons that dont sound as "clicky" as the other ones, FFS..

So maybe..the delay isnt such a bad thing..

Apple...Just do this:
1. Offer a refund OR
2. Offer a black iPhone option to all the people waiting for the WHITE iPhone & move forward already.

This makes no sense :confused:

1. A refund on what? People waiting for the white 4 haven't bought anything yet, nor has anyone been able to pre-order.

2. There is no waiting/priority list and Apple already offer a black option :rolleyes:
 
iPhone 4 is truly turning into some phone. Antennagate, high chance of it's glass breaking, and countless delays of the white model.
 
Some of you really know how to moan. There could be many reasons Apple has not told the press why - perhaps they feel it's not for the press to need to know about this issue. But besides, I am not surprised the least Apple has delayed it because Steve Jobs is a perfectionist to every little cosmetic detail - they would even delay the MacBook Pro if it's screws weren't flush at the bottom (as they apparently have done before). Apple may be very quiet in situations like this, like they have done before and perhaps there are better ways for them to deal with it, but at least they go to every little detail to ensure that any new product they release is perfected to every little detail, from the experience, the internals to the cosmetics. Not every other company looks at it as Apple does. Some of you need to chill and perhaps not get so entangled in the arguments (and articles that may be not completely accurate) on this site cause you're going to believe it when it may be completely different from where Apple is standing from how it is being perceived outwardly.

Gimme a break, Apple is not special. They already sell the new iPod Nanos with the same multi-touch capabilities as the iOS devices, that's twice as small and just so happen to come in seven different colors. Yet they can't even ship out one white iPhone 4.

Oh come on, you can't really think that, can you? Any company would want to do that especially if they're selling a pricey/premium product just so they don't have to deal with the complaints after.
