i know many consumers who cared that the white iphone 4 didn't get released; i am one of them. I'm still angry at apple for announcing the device three separate times and still not delivering. Mid-july at the apple press conference about the antenna, you can't tell me that steve jobs didn't know that the white iphone wouldn't be shipping at the end of july. He said it was still on track and all, with only 15 days left in the month. Production would have to be pretty much wrapped up and shipping to apple would need to be taking place at that time.
So no, cared that there wasn't a choice. Would i have cared if a white iphone 4 was never shown? No, i wouldn't. But the fact that apple announced it, and now has no plans of ever releasing it bothers me. I wanted this white iphone, glass front and back. The next one may be a new design, i wanted this one. Apple really messed up on the white iphone 4, and the unfortunate thing is, is that so many people worship the company, so even when they screw over a portion of their customers, they still get praise. Like how i have seen a lot of comments about how apple just shouldn't release it, it was ugly anyway, black was more popular. I wish people could just admit that this was a wanted, announced product by apple, and by them not delivering, they are wrong. And i think customers who waited for this device deserve some kind of recognition that it is indeed cancelled permanently or a press release stating why they announced it but couldn't deliver.
But of course, apple will keep mum on the subject, announce a white iphone 5 and they will be praised for being able to make a white product, although a year late to that party.
