White iPhone Release Betting Thread

Either they won't have them or they will have plenty. I don't see them shipping limited quantities. That would just be ridiculous. I want the white iPhone because I like white. I hope that Apple doesn't initially turn it into something "exclusive" or "limited", or whatever you want to call it. Apple had white and black 3G and 3GS phones at launch.
 
Apple has mad no such announcement. All they have said is that the white is currently unavailable for pre-order or reserve on their website. What we should assume, until Apple publicly states, is that white iPhone 4s will be available on release day. They're just not available for pre-order or reserve right now. It's probably just due to a manufacturing glitch, or late production, and they just didn't want to sell out their pre-orders/reserve too quickly.

my 2 cents: I hope they'll be available for reserve by Tuesday.

Right. So many people are mis-reading and rendering what Apple has said. According to Apple at WWDC, the iPhone 4 will be available in white and black on June 24.

The white iPhone 4 is not available for pre-order or pick-up in store, for whatever reason that may be. It does not say 'iPhone 4 will not be available by June 24'. Until we hear otherwise, we are to assume it will be in the stores.
 
In my dream last night I got my white one. So I hope being the first BB pre-order my dream will come true :eek:
 
my most asked question

i think my most asked question so far (that never seems to get asked) is

if i pre-ordered a white from bb, and they only get black, am i still guaranteed a black? Will they call me this week and ask me if i'd prefer? or just assume i want a white so bad i'll wait another month?

I agree with the idea that it may be in stores for launch day. The website says "White iPhone currently unavailable for pre-order or in-store pickup". The lawyer inside me says that the word "currently" means that this could change at any time. We will see.

I've had a dream the past 2 nights that I woke up and looked at the Apple store site and it was available to order. I've gotten up early both times just to check the site in case.

I pre-ordered a white at Best Buy on Tues morning (I think I was like the third person to pre-order). They called me at 8PM that night and told me they just got word that they wouldn't have any white iPhones on launch day and gave me the option of switching to black or waiting until it came into stock.. which could be a long time from now.

I'm still voting yes though. And camping out. If it turns out to be no I'll just cry in front of the Apple Store until Steve Jobs comes and gives me one himself (it's only a 20 minute drive from Cupertino.. can't be that hard right?).

I bet that Apple stores will have a limited stock of them for the campers.
I was really considering the white. Is it worth camping on the sidewalk overnight for? Nope. I like the way the black looks with the new design.
 
I can see both arguments, but from a business standpoint and to keep chaos from happening at the Apple Stores, I think that the White iPhone will be released at a labor day. Plus, doesn't everyone know that you're not suppose to wear white after labor day. :)

My highly uninformed educated guess is that Apple will have white iPhones available for sale at launch or 2-3 weeks after. They simply do not have enough made (manufacturing shortage) to allow preorders of them. I'm waiting.

That's what I'm thinking too. ;)

I have a "pre-order" for a white one at Best Buy that probably won't be filled on the 24th. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes for the white one though. :D
 
I have called two AT&T's and one Best Buy in my area and all three said they will not have the white iPhone on the 24th. I'm frustrated because they all seem so certain, so they must have gotten word from Apple, yet we have no official statement about it.
 
I ordered black, but dammit..... That white is really growing on me. Clean.
 
Im also waiting for a white 32GB iPhone 4, and Im also guessing the delay has something to do with the Proximity sensor being visible on pre-release models. Nokia delayed shipment of their N97 die to a similar cosmetic reason, but in their case it was related to light leakage through the fascia skin. Lets hope that's it, and the white iPhone 4 will also have the Proximity sensor hidden like the back model.

Oh, and 1st week in August Im planning on getting mine, walking in the Apple Store with £600 notes. Well, a friend of mine will be, then shipping it to me here in Finland.
 
If Apple doesnt say anything officially by Wednesday, then it is not ridiculous to think that white iP4s will be available.
