Hello!

Hi there,

I just got my first MacBook (and indeed, my first ever Mac) yesterday, and I'm thrilled with it  I am wondering, like many others, if I can upgrade to 8GB via 2 4GB sticks of RAM - any ideas?

Also, what cases/slip cases do you guys reccomend?

Thanks!

Hey guys, it's been a while posting in this thread.

I was just wondering. Has anyone ever experienced or has this... My MacBook has a bump on the left side (below the usb's connectors) *I'll post a picture later*

I don't know. it's kind of scaring the heck out of me. I don't know what caused it to make that lump...

Should i call apple care?

It has that 1 year warranty which will expire in like 150 days...

Do you think they can do something with this? get the parts replaced?

You want to call them ASAP or go to the nearest Apple Store. That looks pretty bad. Can't believe Apple hasn't fixed this tumor issue.

Looks like you may have the beginning of this happening:

Mac Forums > Apple Hardware > Notebooks > MacBook > HELP!!!!!! Macbook Peeling

It appears to be covered under AppleCare so give them a call.

Thanks @DewGuy1999 for that thread
and to @skinniezinho @chris2k5

I just called apple care. I had to send the senior advisor some pictures of the macbook... and he's going to send it to his engineers. and they'll call the shots from there.

Hopefully New Machine (you think i'll receive the updated version or the same) and or they fix it when i send it. Or they can either tell me to go to my local apple store and set up with the genius bar...

I'll keep you guys updated

My guess is that they'll just replace the bottom panel (the metal bottom w/the rubber coating), but if they do give you a new MacBook (unlikely) it would be the current model. Good Luck.

Holy moses man that MB does not look good. I think I would s**t my pants if I flipped it over one day and found that! Like everyone else has said, def call applecare man, or whatever warranty service you have

Same exact thing happened to me but I just rigged it up with some scotch tape and it seems to do the job for now. Maybe I should take it into the Apple Store.

Hey everyone i have awesome news.
I called apple care they set me up for an appointment at my Local Apple Store for the genius bar.

Went in, waited for like 30 min because i got there early ;)

and within minutes they replaced my bottom with a new one.

To be honest it feels so much heavier than it use to.

Take a look for yourself.

NEW! :)

Looks good. Hopefully this "problem" is isolated and you won't see a re-occurrence.

you can take the keyboard from an aluminum macbook and switch it with the on on the new white macbook?....will the back light still work

I know this thread is old, but I just purchased a refurb 2.26GHz from Apple's website and received it yesterday. I have to say I am definitely more than impressed with this machine. When I ordered it I had second thoughts because there wasn't really too much wrong with my older white MacBook, but it needed a new screen (keyboard markings) and battery and I decided to sell it and get this one. Damn... what a difference a unibody structure can make. The whole laptop just feels better and more sturdy and the look is much cleaner. The screen is amazing, much better than my previous Aluminum MacBook and not even in the same league as the old WhiteBook. Battery life is insane... looking at 5-5 1/2 hours while browsing the internet and with iTunes open.

Looking forward to using this computer for many years to come.
