Got this machine in october .. so far this machine with the trackpad .. is uncomperable to other laptops i have ever used. Does any one know if a 1T WD black 7200 RPM HD would work in this machine .. i say it should but .. i dont have solid facts .. ill keep on reading to see what i find out .. but that with a 8G Sodimm kit would totally rule the waves!

Posting in an old thread but, I'm a new owner (first Apple system) of a Mid 2010 White Macbook. I am LOVING this thing. The trackpad being the finest thing since sliced bread.

Anyone else that hasn't posted, bought one yet? Please post up.

I bought a used unibody macbook some time ago and was wondering if others also experience that the left palmrest get warm? This is were the hard-drive is, and hard drives tend to get warm, but as I am used to my plastic 2007 Macbook were I never felt heat from the hard drive I get a little annoyed.
Is it "normal"?

Depends on the hard drive model used. I think the original 250GB drives could get hot if you're doing some disk-intensive activity.

?

My 2007 white macbook definitely gets hot on the palm rest.

?

Maybe it does - but I have never thought about it. Anyway, the palm rest-heat on my 2007 white Macbook is not as noticeable as on my unibody white one, where the left side is hot(warm) and the right side is cold.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Unibody MacBooks have the hard drive and battery positions swapped from the sides they were on previously in the non-Unibody models.

Hi guys:). I'm wondering if a macbook with a core 2 duo 2.4 ghz, 8 gb ram and ssd can run easily xcode 4 without fan became too noisy. Any experiences?

Is apple still replacing the cases for the white unibody macbook for chipping? Thinking of picking up a 2009 white unibody for the girlfriend (its a real cheap price) and taking it to apple to replace the case if they would?

So should I buy this or buy new(er) MacBook Pro ?

I am currently considering this one, a friend of mine has for sale. I know this wont support the most current OS system and probably ? will not last very long for future usage? not sure if I should buy this or just buy MUCH more expensive newer model..

Had an old generation poly-carb macbook. Once the alums came out, figured that was it.

I love my 13 pro.....but then I did play with one, and ended up buying one of the unibody macbooks.

Very very nice. It's my kicking around machine. Web stuff, school stuff, killing time with music, ect.

My Pro is the hardcore business machine, runs my company stuff, ect.

Couldn't be happier with the poly-unibody design.

Whats the difference between Poly-carb and Unibody ? THe one I am looking at is all WHITE. feels like plastic all around. Its 2008 model.

New here, Late-2009 unibody owner, think its about time I slam an SSD in it as I don't really want to get a new model.

Question I have for other unibody owners, is there a known issue with Corsair ram?

I got 8GB (2x4GB modules) of the Corsair Mac Memory stuff with the right specs but it just doesn't want to work, I get 3 beeps at boot which means the memory is dud. Tested using Memtest in another machine and works fine though!

Read a few other people have had a similar issue, again with Corsair stuff, think I'll try another brand!

Running Mountain lion? I have the same ram as you mentioned and it's working fine. Maybe you didn't insert the ram correctly ? Im no expert, but if its working fine on another machine the ram is not the problem.
