I wanted a white iPhone in the beginning but I wanted a legit one from Apple spending $300 and voiding my warranty seems crazy.

You TECHNICALLY dont void your warranty, the ONLY warranty sticker is a small round one on one of the screws which is easy to pull off and replace. If something happens, rebuild the phone in black and put that sticker in its spot. Done and done, warranty-able.

Eh, I wanted a white one but I'll save the $300 for a white iPhone 5.

Who wants white iPhone 4, that will buy. May be white iPhone 4 won't be released. iPhone 5 will be only in the summer. May be too in black color only!

I still haven't bought the iphone 4 but now there are rumors that the white one is coming out wonder if they would just be the same when it comes to pricing.

Although i am happy with my white iphone 4, yeahr im kinda upset i didnt get the foxconn parts from whiteiphone4now while i had the chance. I was thinkin about ordering the back plate today and noticed the site was down.. Im guessing if it does go back on sale, the parts certainly wont be from foxconn. any thoughts?

100% Truth

Ok so I don't know if posting this will hurt business, help business or be a wash but I felt that it needs to be stated.

There are 0, yes zero, official OEM white iPhone 4 parts available for purchase anymore. I know this because I run a local business offering the iPhone 4 conversions. To add some credibility to my case, I won't post where I am located or even how to contact me so everyone will know I'm not just posting a shameless plug for my business.

Any part you buy from ANYWHERE or ANYONE will be a copy. There are some very small differences to the part that can't be noticed unless you are actively involved with these conversions. Just one example: the number of holes for the proximity sensor vary.

Here is the information that I'm sure will interest most people here:

Pricing for front glass assembly, ie: Glass/Digitizer/LCD is $95 wholesale
Pricing for back glass cover is $32 wholesale
Pricing for white home button is $7 wholesale

This is what I pay for the parts. I currently have my phone converted and I can attest to the quality of the parts that I use. It meets all apple standards as far as functionality and quality. There are also really BAD parts out there on the market too and I know that sorting through the good and the bad is a risk most people aren't willing to take.

The parts that the kid uses are the same ones I use so my post here should give you a general idea of the kind of money he is making with this little venture.

For those not wanting to do the math... If you factor in shipping cost that he has to pay to get the parts to him then it costs him about $140 (roughly) per whole conversion. He is selling them for $280 + $20 (sic) for shipping so he is making about $160 profit.

I know that I'm a newb here and I only made an account to write this post so do what you will with that. I'll try to respond to questions anybody might have.

The parts are not coming from Foxconn. They never have and never will. The only reason you think they are coming from Foxconn is because he advertised that they were which is why, in my opinion, the website got shut down. False advertisement.

no offense but to say it meets all of apple's standards doesn't make any sense, unless you work with apple's QA department you aren't going to know what those standards are and you wouldn't know the the actual process used to validate something is up to standard. all you can do is guess and to claim that as fact is misleading

I don't think he stole them. Didn't he buy them?

If the parts are from Foxconn, he might not of stolen them himself, but they are stolen.

And with Apple doing that I hope they get tons of bad PR and flack for it. Apple should of just sent letter and demand that he stop and that would be the end of it. But instead Apple is being Apple and showing their true colors and it is not pretty.
We won't know until we hear something official - they could primarily be trying to pin down his supplier (and ask for his profits.)
He knew what he was doing and ignorance is never an excuse in a court of law.
No, but depending on what is going on, it could be a mitigating factor in sentencing and such. Of course, if he was smart enough to put this together... I doubt such a defense would fly.

I guess a lot of us aren't on welfare.

Actually, it's those of us not on welfare but not raking in the dough that can't afford it (this country punishes those who try to get off welfare due to bad rules about income vs. assistance checks, etc.)

I guess I need to clarify that part a bit. As far as functionality and my personal experiences and the experiences of others that I have converted, there is no noticeable difference between the original black parts and the new white copies. Obviously I cannot know for absolute sure that it would meet apples QC standards.

That could easily be the case. They're saying it's bc of high demand. That seems much less likely.

There has been a few of these sites lately...

whiteiphone4wow.com ? wtf..
whiteiphonenow.com ... no 4

it seems like whiteiphonenow.com is more legit, others don't even have a contact phone number or address.

anyone?

^why would you even consider ordering any white parts at all at this time after numerous complaints and even someone who has a business on black to white conversions says to not order anything as the quality of parts are crappier than any sports team in cleaveland...doesn't seem worth it at all. It's costly, you lose your warranty, and I have yet to come across a post where there were absolutely no problems at all. I personally don't want crappy parts on my phone. No thanks, keep your "slightly off centered but it's okay I'm getting used to it" parts to yourself.

I have ordered a replacement kit a few days ago and to my horror i saw their website gone down today. I have filed a dispute on paypal (which i know is useless anyway).

Anyone else on the same boat?

the site seems to have moved and is now whiteiphoneus.com

I also brought one about a week ago myself and notice that the website is down also. The guy did provide me with a tracking number. If you need to contact him here are some contact that I got.

e-mail: focusupply@hotmail.com

Skype: focusupply

i emailed alan at focus supply. he said they are still in business for white. he is claiming oem parts (i know they are not), but i ordered a back plate anyway hoping it will fit perfectly as my current one has just a little bit of light leaking out the one side.. i should get it in a week or so.. ill update

Hey guys be careful about whiteiphone4us.com because all people posting to go to it have a join date for this forum of Dec 2010.

Very sketchy - a mod should look into that.

And the only people for whom purchasing a conversion kit makes sense are the ones who need replacement screens from cracked phones. Then it's more like $100 for a conversion.
