I paid, and I've noticed that the apps are MUCH better than the jailbroken ones, particularly the Mail and Maps apps. Plus the extra features such as re-arranging apps without going into Customize, creating icons for Websites, lyrics, etc. are all very nice as well and (to my knowledge) not available when you jailbreak your iPod touch.

Well worth $20.

WOW! Everything that you said I agree with 110%.

it came up in my itunes right after i upgraded to 1.1.3

just go to the store and you'll see a link for it

No you won't. Apple pulled the ability to purchase this upgrade for some reason. I guess you'll just have to wait until they make it available again.

i see it right in the center of the itunes store home page

edit: ok you don't see the buy now button. nevermind.

Not now. Not ever.

I'm not supporting Apple's customer disrespect. I'll also no longer be using iTunes for my music or video purchases.

i just don't understand why anyone would buy the apps when they could just jailbreak their itouch . You can still get the iphone apps, just for free. And you get a lot more than that. If you run into a problem and need to take it in to the apple store, you can just restore it to factory settings I thought...

What part of my original post and the post that i quoted do you not understand? The things that I want work much better now than they ever did before with my jailbroken iPod touch. In other words, some people don't care a thing about the other apps that are available for those who've jailbroken the touch. I can't speak for everyone but having a now 100% legit setup is way more preferable on multiple levels (morally, legally, functionally) than having one that is hacked.

Whoa Whoa Whoa! In my iTunes account on Monday I had $3.18 from giftcards credited. On Tuesday I went to the store to buy a $25 giftcard, added it to my account upping it to $28.18. I bought the software upgrade for $19.99, then saw a lowered account ballance of $8.19 this morning, plus I recieved an e-mail saying that I had indeed bought it. Now I am back up to a balance of 28.18! Is :apple: crediting back the 19.99 to users accounts? Can anyone confirm?

Edit: I just checked and iTunes won't let me buy the upgrade again.

I agree 100%. You know, I am just a student and like everyone else, I do that bad stuff on the internet. Yeah, download illegal music, full fledged movies, and I jailbroke my Ipod.

Personally, I did not use any of my Apps that much and the first thing my friend said when I showed him I had a Nintendo Emulator on my ipod was "Isn't that illegal?" BTW, he is a diehard Nintendo fan.

I enjoyed downloading 1.1.3 and giving my ipod not only a new look but a clean slate. The programs are worth it, but I do not think Apple should have made their ipod users purchase these.

I have also stopped downloading illegal music because of this. I rather feel good about myself and either buy from Itunes or a store.

My 2 cents.

I bought them, and I had hacked touch that already had those apps. So why did I buy them? Well, because my iPod was hacked, I could not update the software without losing those apps. So I saw this as an excellent chace to get a 100% kosher iPod that could be updated at will. I saw it as a lot less hassle.

I agree 115%. I wanna do things right and it makes me feel better to not have any fears upgrading in the future as well as not having to wait until each update is hacked to get my Apps back.

I bought mere moments after they were announced. I'm so happy to be able to use the apps I wanted the most, and be able to update without the hassle of jailbreaking and reloading my touch every time new firmware was released. JB'ing is fun, and I was all for it before the "5-apps" were released, but I just don't see the need anymore. Like mentioned above, the official apps are way more stable and fast than the jailbreaked versions. And I'm just not mad at Apple for charging. If they refund my 20 bux, great, if not, who cares? I'm more than happy to help fund a company that has given me so many great products throughout the years. I've been using apple computers since the Apple IIe, and I love 'em!

I brought my app's for a number of reasons:
  1. I brought an iPod Touch for £200, why would I want to risky jailbreaking it!
  2. I like supporting Apple (even if they make billions of dollars) because they are an amazing business (shame i can't afford a Mac)
  3. I have wanted the App's for ages, and havent wanted to ruin my iPod by jailbreaking.
  4. £12 isn't much to be honest for a set of pretty amazing applications...

Thats my reasons...

Because you upgrade to 10.5.2, everything is snappier, so I hope you are charged $50 for that. Because you will be able to justify being charged, find all kinds of excuses, for someone who ripped you off.

Why Buy The Apps When You can have one person share the 10kb file? i mean it works.. all you have to do is open the file. and it automatically installs.

Where is this said '10kb file' then?

Might as well get sharing it!

I don't have a Touch, so I didn't vote. However, if I did, I would have bought the apps no questions asked. $20 for 5 apps seems pretty reasonable to me.

Well I have finally decided to go ahead and restore my touch and update to 1.1.3. The only things that I am bummed to leave behind are summerborad and apollo. I guess I can use meebo at least.
