Even though I bought the apps, I'm still pretty surprised to see that a great majority of Touch owners purchased them. I figured that it would be pretty divided...

I just bought an iPod Touch last night... Didn't come with the apps, but I think I wanna play around with the iPod a little bit more, to decide if I wanna keep it.

I already have an 80 GB iPod classic, I just bought the iTouch because it looks cooler... lol, well... that, and I only have ~11GB of music, so the 80 GB is just unnecessary for me. But I do like the iPod touch so far, much better than my Classic. I'm just nervous about filling it up. -_-

Should I decide to keep it, I will indeed buy the apps though. :)

I think its stupid that I pay $400 dollars for a top of the line music player and then less than a month later, I have to pay to upgrade it.

Some stores do have an extended return period for Christmas purchases. I checked with BestBuy and the return/exchange/price guarantee period is extended to 1/31 for any purchases made between 11/1 and 12/24. I took the receipt and got the $40 price difference back. I did upgrade to 1.1.3 and purchase the Jan upgrade.

I have a jailbroken ipod touch and I would happily pay $20 for (what I know to be great from the jailbreaking) great apps. But as vain as it my sound, I really don't want to give up my wallpaper ( the black background is just so boring), icons (only a couple of which I have changed, but I really like some of them), and my leopard style dock. And of course, being a comp sci major, I really like just being to ssh in and be able to change whatever I want. I thought it was really cool when I could go from photoshop and illustrator to make an icon and put in right on my own piece of hardware. Its a more intimate experience than I've ever had with a device (yes, I know that phrase lends itself to cheap jokes, so do with it what you will).

exactly... it's YOURS ... you paid for the rights to own it so you should be entitled to make it benefit you.

I did, saves me time and hassle plus the company listened to what we wanted and I hope that the ipod touch will be open like the iphone.

ricardo1064 you need to update your itunes/itouch to the latest version(s). I had the same problem till then.

As anyone had an issue with there current location feature?
I live in Boston Ma but every time with a occasion of like 3 times it tells me my current location is S Urish Road which is in like Topeka Kansas? Its annoying. but other then that I think the applications are worth the 20 bucks.

did that, still not working.

i just did, and i don't regret it a bit..

Me too! I got my touch this morning. First thing I did was update to 1.1.3 and buy the apps. No regrets. I didn't have to worry about possibly bricking my new toy...and I knew the download was from a trusted source. That's worth $20 to me.

I see in the new 1.1.3 update for the iphone they put in chapter stops for when you are viewing a movie. I wish they would of included them in on the itouch. Moving the slide bar at the top is a pain. If you have to go back a minute or so it is very hard to do.

I gladly paid the 20 bucks to get the update. Apple must have a good reason, lus the custom homecreen is a big deal for me.

The only thing that pisses me off is that iTunes store isn't available everywhere... I personally bought a Gift Certificate on eBay and even thought that was fairly easy, I would like all these new things like movie rentals to be available rightfully all over the world...

Chapter selection is included in the 1.1.3 January Upgrade app package for the iPod touch.

Dale,
Thanks for the link. I usually read all the posted before posting a question. Can't believe I miss that one.

Thank You again

In my case the email app. and the and the ability to place icons on the home screen made it all worth it.:)
