With all the talk of spec bumps this week and minor updates (iPad Mini and a new Air were released yesterday) i wonder if the 12" Macbook will be one of those to get a minor spec bump, are the processors ready from Intel for such a thing? and if so will they also update the new Macbook Air to keep the Air ahead of the 12" Macbook?

I have money waiting for the 12"!

Well, if lightning is going to strike twice, expect the store to be going down again anytime now - I don't know they would want to be taking it offline again so soon after releasing new products, though? Maybe again next Monday (after or during the event) might be more likely?

I'm not sure myself, i can only go off of what Mark Gurman has said and he predicated iPad and iMac updates this week, with no redesign to the iMac.

Or maybe the end of this week? Friday possibly? at this point who knows (except for Apple)

Just checked Gurman's tweet again and in response to someone asking him about the iMacs yesterday after the Apple Online Store came back online, he responded with "Patience, my friend". Which sounds to me like still stands by his prediction of new iPads and iMacs this week?

On the other hand, it would really be somewhat unusual for Apple to announce two new products via press announcements at different dates of the same week, at least I can't recall right now if it happened before. Wouldn't it kinda make more sense to announce them both at the same day of the week at that point, instead of having to take down the website and everything twice in short succession? Unless they maybe want to separate the new iPads and Macs from each other. Either way, as long as the store doesn't go offline again, I'd be very cautious about a second announcement this week.

In any case, whenever it may be, I really hope that the new iMacs are accompanied by an updated MacBook aswell, even if Gurman doesn't mention it. After the release of new iMacs and MacBooks, it would be the first time in years that every Mac in the lineup is less than one year old (except for the Mac Pro/iMac Pro category which we already know will get that long-awaited update later this year). Would be a shame if it's the MacBook that's left behind unupdated this time around.

Yea i saw that, he responded to my comment as well (see the screenshot). It's possible they could leave it a couple of days and announce new iMac's via a press release later this week (Thursday, Friday?). Apple have done so like that in the past, granted it's not very often.

The iMac and 12" Macbook were updated at the same time, WWDC 2017 and so they are both due an upgrade at this point. I know that Coffee Lake is there for the iMac with 6 cores, but i'm not sure if there is anything out at the moment that would suit the 12" Macbook.

I'd suggest maybe they are holding on for WWDC if there's an redesign coming, but there's absolutely nothing from the supply chain to suggest that's the case for either the MacBook or the iMac. While it's possible that no leaks will happen as there is less interest in macs, we had a leak of the design of the 12"MB before it launched, and the 2016 MBP chassis, and there's always reports like 'a customer thought to be Apple has ordered 1,000,000 rounded-corner, 32" 6K displays from LG'. I can't imagine they will want to be leaving these products completely untouched for over 2 years (they aren't as niche as the Mac Mini or Pro) so I would say WWDC at the latest, but exactly what we will get still seems very up in the air?

iMac's have just got updated

No idea, maybe they will be updated later this year? the 12" Macbook still needs and update.
That, plus the nTB Pro (if it's not discontinued) plus the rumoured iPod touch (I don't think they can keep selling a 1GB A8 device after iOS 13 is announced, so it'll have to be sometime between now and June).

It seems to me that they are doing it by category, yesterday was all iPad stuff (mini, Air and some accessories), today seems to be desktop Mac's, ie the iMac and iMac Pro (just got updated). Could tomorrow be the laptops? 12" Macbook, Macbook Air and the nTB Macbook Pro?

That makes a lot of sense, but could Apple really have so many updates up its sleeve, all in the same week? That might be some kind of record...and it would be great!

Well, front page now has a rumour about iPod touch tomorrow :D pretty cool, like a big spring-clean up of all their stagnant devices!

I don’t know, it’s just a guess on my part. I could see them releasing some processor bumps for the 12” MacBook and Air, but nothing substantial.

I would be very surprised if they updated the MacBook Air this soon, but I suppose it is possible. I've been very happy with my maxed-out 2017 12" MacBook so won't be updating it this year even if they do release an update at some point this year.

I think it’s possible for the Air with just a small processor bump, or maybe an i7 option added? Just a guess. The 12” MacBook is due an upgrade tho, after 2 years.

The MacBook already has a (fanless low power) i7 option.

The Air is what I meant, there is no i7 option. The 12” could get a processor update as well, if there are processors ready?

I agree that the 12" MacBook is ready for an update! The ONE thing which would get me standing in line ready to buy a 2019 updated one would be if they add a second USB-C port to the machine and I doubt that they will do that...... Spec bumps would be nice, but I can live with what I've got for another year or so, as my current one is maxed out with i7 and 16 GB RAM so speediness really is not an issue.

This is the only thing he had to say, but it’s not about a new MacBook

That's interesting... I do note they officially call the new MBA the 13" MacBook Air while the MacBook is just the MacBook, not the 12" MacBook. I wonder this means there will be another size of Air at some point, either a larger 15" version, or even the 12" rebranded as an Air as it effectively replaced the 11" anyway?
