I’ve seen several camera tests now where they consistently say when just using the main wide camera, photos were preferable on the non pros. They are out on YouTube. Not saying these tests are perfect or science…..just sharing what I’ve watched. Again, I have a 15 PM and don’t care what phone another person gets. But the pics I saw on regular shots with the regular 15s were slightly better 🤷🏻‍♂️
These videos sound interesting. Could you mention a few channel names, please?

It's capable and utilitarian with none of the glossy attention-grabbing bling the Pro line incorporates.

At least they finally got rid of the glossy stainless steel which looked more like a fashion item / jewelry than a pro device. The Titan looks much more classy and suitable for that niche IMO.

Just to share the beauty of the regular 15 in black. This is the closest thing to a true black Apple has ever made. Brilliant.

Wut

The iPhone 7’s would like to have a word with you.

Anyway, my closest Apple store had a white pro in stock (what I had in the max), and I figured I could go and make a final decision because they had a lot of regular 15s in various colors.

I went with the pro. I love the look and feel of the 15s, but honestly, the weight difference was negligible, and I just figure I won't have any regrets or feel like I'm missing anything.

My data is being transferred as we speak.
Good choice as in “that’s exactly what I got”.

I like the way silver/white contrasts with a case. I have the storm blue silicon and it looks great with the white phone.

Wow that does look good! I use Loopy cases, and right now they’re still pretty limited with what they have to offer for the 15 pro, but I got this saddle brown. I will have a leopard loop in it, but couldn’t resist this one for right now. Lol

I did, upgrading from my 12 mini and like it a lot. Everything is better and my eyes are especially thankful for a bigger screen.

As I had moved to 12 mini from 11, my transition back to a larger iPhone was successfully completed the moment I put the mini down. 😉 I will still keep 12 mini as a backup iPhone for my family and am planning to use iPhone 15 for 2-3 years, unless Apple really tempts me with their foldable sooner.

I bought the regular 15 but I’m gonna sell it for one main reason: the 60Hz screen.

Coming from an iPhone 12 I thought I could live with the 60Hz again for the next couple of years, until Apple finally decides to give the regular iPhone lineup a 120hz screen (I refuse to pay more than 1.000€ for any phone or just to have 120hz).

But after 2 weeks I found out I can’t deal with it anymore. I have the 11 iPad Pro and it’s great having that smoothens.

So, considering the Pro Max is too big and expensive, and the the 15 Pro is too expensive for a phone with subpar battery life, I decided to buy the S23+, which brand new cost me even less than the iPhone 15 128GB.

I do miss some features from iOS, but I just can’t deal with 60Hz anymore. Also, my iPhone 15 still overheats with basic stuff even on most recent update. That was the second reason for ditching it.

Lol, what? The Pro phones are significantly better in a lot of ways, and if you've got the budget they're pretty much a no-brainer IMO. Also, 60Hz and USB 2.0 on a 1k phone is completely ridiculous...

But yeah, you do you. :D
Ridiculous is paying upwards of 1000€ just to have 120hz and USB 3.0. But yeah, you do you with your money.

I needed a leather case and one with an Apple logo and found this for $20 on eBay. Its fake leather but looks just like it, has fantastic grip, will never look shabby, and is waterproof. Apple should have just launched this instead of Finewoven, no joke.
Would you be willing to share a link to that case or name. Couldn't find it on eBay. Thanks in advance!

I have never used a 120Hz before, so for me it does not matter so much.

However, just out of curiosity - is Apple ProMotion a software or hardware feature? I mean, could Apple hypothetically up their screen refresh rates on regular iPhones to 90-120Hz with a software/firmware update, or is it a totally different screen panel or video controller altogether, so hardware dependent?

Not if you upgrade every year and buy retail / unlocked. Been doing this since iPhone 4. I sold my 14PM and received $800 after all fees, etc. Every year I’ve upgraded and paid less than $500, no different this year for the 15PM. Well worth it for me.

S23+ is the best Android you can get, imo, loved it when I had it. Smokes the 15 in every way. Good on you for not being a banana head as Floss says.

I came from an iPhone 12 non pro to a 15 pro. TBH I would have been good with a 15 non pro.

Ridiculous is caring about 10-20% extra when talking a €1000 , like do you really care that much if something's €900 or €1100, because if so then you should be buying a perfectly fine phone like a Samsung A54 for €350. Ridiculous that people are buying a €900 phone instead of a €1100 just because of the money difference, you should not be buying either if you care that much about the money.

Because compared to something like a Samsung A54 both a €900 and a €1100 phone are terrible value.

I guess it’s the direct side-by-side comparison that makes the switch difficult for some? I have never had a ProMotion iPhone, so for me 60 Hz is as fine as it has been for ages. However, I tried iPad Pro 11” next to iPad Air 5 this summer to see the difference and… could not notice much. I was not drawing or scrolling fast, though, which are the two main tasks ProMotion is meant to be great for. I just used an iPad as I normally would, so for me it was not a big deal.

Back to side-by-side comparisons. I switched from 12 mini to 15 last weekend and while moving stuff across was thinking something like “Hmm, 15 is rather big.” The very next day, however, it was totally fine and now if I turn on my mini I think the opposite - “Hmm, this is just tiny!” 😉

Same here.

And having seen the 'better' refresh rates in the store, I don't understand why it matters. Maybe if you're a gamer or something, but for the typical person reading emails, sending texts, getting Facetimed, I don't see the benefit. I really don't care what my screen looks like when I'm scrolling because, you know, I'm scrolling.

Coming from a 14 Pro, the 15 is my favorite phone I've owned in recent years. The 15 is light, feels good in the hand, and looks very cute in yellow 💛

I am also vastly happier with the camera system. The automatic lens switching on the 14 Pro was absolutely obnoxious and bungled some otherwise really important shots.

Explain that about the camera switching. I’ll admit to being a bit uneducated on my phone’s camera capabilities.

I think it means the automatic switch the phone makes, sometimes you think you are using the telephoto lens but the phone “decides” to use the main lens and crop it.

I don’t know why this happens but I remember reading the technical explanation somewhere…

You’d be surprised how many people don’t care that the Pro is a better spec’ed phone though. The reason the standard iPhones sell so well is because they are more affordable and are ‘good enough’ for a lot of people. I wouldn’t rule out going back to the standard iPhone at my next upgrade to be honest. Not bothered about the charging port or the refresh rate and that’s the key things people seem to bang on about of late.

Oh okay. I’m definitely a point and shoot kind of photo taker, and my phone is it, so I want to get the best pics I can with the least effort. Just wanna be sure there’s not something I need to pay attention to.
