If everyone... then I saved up for everything I buy. I don't own a credit card and to be honest I don't want one. I do everything the old fashioned save up method. Just bought hubby a MacBook and saving up now for an iMac and iPhone :D

Same thing for me. I'm an adult and therefore of course pay for everything myself. However, I do not now nor have I ever had a credit card. I buy everything (even my car) with cash by saving up. I like the freedom from debt and the discipline imposed on me. Also helps me make better choices of things to buy since I have plenty of time to think about what I buy.

Of course never having had a credit card (or any other kind of loan) is annoying when someone wants to do a credit check on you for whatever reason...

I've bought every computer (and everything else electronic I've ever owned) my entire life, all the way back to my first stacking turntable in about 1967 or so.

And yes, that includes the dual-deck 8-track recorder I got in 1970. I never said I was smart about my purchases...

PowerMac 7500/100, 17" ForMac Display, Scanner, Photoshop 3, Kia Powertools - Paid for by myself.

PowerBook 5300 - Paid for by myself.

iMac 350 - Paid for by myself.

PowerBook G3 - Paid for by myself.

PowerMac G4, 17" ForMac Display - Paid for by myself.

PowerBook G4, BT Keyboard, BT Mouse, iPod - Paid for by myself.

Mac Mini (for Parents) - Paid for by myself.

I paid for it myself. It's not really fair to ask the parents to pay for it. Work and earn the money for it yourself. :p

Well, I pay for all my computers with my own money/items. My current Thinkpad T60 has been traded up to from a broken 867MHz Power Mac G4 which I got for $25. It's taken seven months... but... Yay!

*ooh, I realized this is my first post in a while*

I think as a 24 y/o my parents might get a little pissy if I asked them to buy me a computer now :p

In all seriousness, all but my first PC (when I was ~13) has been paid for by me, as it should be!

Well, if anyone remembers... I had to dance at the old folk's home for a few weeks to get the money to buy mine. Those old ladies go crazy when they see a Sailor in uniform. I had to get bodyguards. :D

With a little bit of nouse you can make the credit cards work for you. Just pay it off every month and you don't pay any interest, however you do earn interest on the money that didn't have to leave your bank account because you used your card! The credit checking thing is the real reason that I have one though.

As for paying for things, I too am an adult and I have to look after myself and buy my own things. Some might say that sucks but I like it.
