Definitely want it. Paired with my BeatsX I would be 100% wireless.

Except for the power cable connecting your charging pad to the socket. :p

And that's why I'm not terribly impressed by wireless charging. I still need the use of a power socket and an even more expensive accessory compared to a plain old charger. I'm looking forward to he magical future where every desk and table is a charging pad and you can just lay your phone down on any surface to charge it.

I've got lightning cables in every place where I could possibly want or need to charge my phone or iPad (multiple rooms at home, both cars, office, etc.), so as another poster mentioned, unless Apple is going to give away the charging pucks, I've got no desire to use the tech myself. Plus, not being able to use devices while they're charging would be a huge pain.

But that doesn't mean that other people won't find it useful, so there's something to be said for having options...as long as it's not a the cost of battery capacity, due to the wireless charging internal components.

I think once this wireless charging is released, some will be converted over if They were undecided or not sure if this will be a convenience factor for them. Mainly being that's how new technology is, It needs an adaptation phase for others to accept it.

I just have to plug that in ONCE instead of every night. Big difference!

EDIT: I too am excited where we are at that point where every surface is able to charge devices.

I guess that's handy if you always charge your phone in the same place, ie. on your nightstand, but I seldom charge my phone over night. I may plug it in in my car, at my desk at work, or on my couch.

Don't care much about 'wireless' charging. To me, it's just silly because instead of a cable you plug in to your phone, you plug in a pad and put your phone on top of it, and it charges slower. I may use it once it's truly wireless but right now it doesn't interest me in the slightest. It's not hard to plug in a cable anyway.

Not a gamechanger in any way, especially since it's not likely to come with the wireless charging pad. If it was offered at a 50% discount with purchase of a new phone, I might bite.

I don’t know that I’d call it “really useful”, but I see benefits.

At home I just set it down on the nightstand. Easy charging and don’t have to fiddle in the dark for a cable.

In the car, same principle (assuming we see car mounts with charger built in). Once again, I don’t need to fiddle for a cable. I can grab it off the charger (again no unplugging) and in my pocket it goes.

Overall very minor quality of life changes. I’d say about skin to being able to plug in my lightning cable in any direction.

What's with the complaints of added bulk? the inductive charging coil is paper thin.

Yes, it's slower. But it has advantages. A lot of people will charge their phones overnight. So whether it takes 1 hour of 5, it makes no difference. Having experienced both, I can say that a Qi charging stand or pad is useful when walking in the bedroom when the wife is asleep and I don't have to either turn on a light or fumble in the dark to find the cable and then try to connect it. At work, I'm at my desk most of the day, and I just leave the phone on my desk. A charging pad would be convenient.

I'd still need to plug the charger into a socket at home, at work, carry when I travel, etc. Plugging into a car would be a cable mess also and some cars don't necessary have a good place to put a phone.
Sure there would be good and convenient for some use but it just isn't that important to me. Ask me again in 3 years

There is a convenience of setting a phone down, but seriously... plugging a cable in is not an issue. At least, compared to the cost of wireless charging - a slower charge and the inability to use your phone at all. A cable gives multiple feet in every direction of use while charging.

Yes, I care. It's one more degree of convenience. Sure it still requires a cable but it doesn't require me inserting the cable night after night. It's like a lamp -- plug it in and forget about it unless you need to move the lamp. Would you guys prefer to have to plug in your lamp every night?

How about getting undressed before you go to bed. How lazy can we get?

Not exactly cut & dry wireless is it !!! You still need to charge the charger/plate, tbh it's not one of my pre-req for upgrade.

If it’s something I have to buy separately then I’d wait. It’s not something that I feel is a necessary I’d probably use it eventually

Until I can ignore pad, stand, all sorts of such ****, enter a room, and my phone is charging, no cable required, then I will opt into wireless charging. Before then, I will oppose all sorts of wireless charging with similar form or underlying concepts.

I bounce back and forth between the Galaxy phones and the iPhone and am currently on the S8. I've used wireless charging for a while, but the problem is that it is slower than wired charging.

Even when it says "fast charge" wireless charging it is still slower than using a cable. As a result as time has gone by I rarely use it. I've owned the iPhone 7+ and Galaxy S8 and the battery life in both have improved dramatically too. I'd just top them off in the morning and they would usually last throughout the day, so wireless charging has become less relevant as a result.

Now that being said the iPhone 8 having slower wireless charging is silly and I have a feeling that the iPhone 8S will have faster wireless charging as an "upgrade" lol.

I didn't care about wireless charging until I got a phone with it (S8) but I've found it incredibly useful.

I've got a wireless charging stand on my bedside table and one on my desk and all I do is sit the phone it to charge - no messing about with wires or wearing sockets out constantly plugging and unplugging power.
Also, it's incredibly convenient to just top my phone's charge up when I'm sat at my desk: If I want to use my phone I just pick it up and when I've finished with it, I just set it down again

Personally, having used it for the last 5 months or so, I would be reluctant to buy a phone that doesn't have it now
My problem with it is that my 6 Plus easily lasts all day, even my long ones. I just don’t need to charge it more than once a night.

I don't care about it.

I get the point being made that I only feel this way because I haven't used it before etc - but that argument really only goes so far. I may not have used wireless charging but I do charge my phone with a wire every single night, and I do know exactly how big of a deal that isn't for me. Since I don't have any issue with plugging in, I don't see what problem wireless charging is meant to solve.

Come on! Plugging in a phone is so much work. :( Just think of all the time .5 seconds x 20 years could save!

<cough>

One thing for sure, I bought a wireless charging pad from Anker for ............. $12.49.............. I sure as hell am not going to pay $199 or even $100 for a wireless charging pad. :p

If Apple uses Qi, you won't have to.

It's not the time, it's the convenience. In the dark. Or, I use my old Nexus5 as a permanent control for my Sonos system. sits on a stand up wireless stand. I can pick it up, walk around the house, then just place it back on the stand, no fumbling with wires,

I already use the Logi Base for my iPad Pro. It's awesome. Can't wait for wireless charging for the iPhone.

I know people are skeptical but once you use wireless charging, you won't want to go back.

But this is the one thing about Apple, they usually don't discount or included accessories like this with products. They charge separately at a higher premium. And for those whom do want it, the love won't stop some from purchasing it.
