Does anyone reach any conclusions based on the fact that the video and the benchmarks, both posted on 4/1, are no longer available???

Yep that benchmark has made me reconsider.

I was expecting at least 2500 single-core.

Why oh why couldn't Apple have made a machine with Retina, Force Touch, but with a decent processor and the weight and size of the current 13" Air? 1lb weight saving is not worth buying that processor in 2015.

When I bought my current machine four years ago (an Air), I got a light, thin machine with a decent display and great performance. At the moment, despite having six different laptop models to choose from, none of them can match that for 2015.

Give us a thinner 13" Pro (or a Retina Air). Or a Broadwell 15" with Maxwell.

I don't see how Apple didn't make a good job with MacBook. It's a solid device. Slightly overpriced at the moment. But in my opinion it's pretty sufficient for the 1st gen product.

You really think so? Being almost on a par with a machine that is four years old can't be considered a "good job".

Are you seriously comparing a 2011 17W TDP Fancooled 3h30 battery computer with a 4.5/5W TDP Fanless Ultrabook with Retina Display and 9 hours battery life?

Seriously, why are you still posting on those pages?

It is fan-less for goodness sakes!

Whoopee.

We had a fanless retina Macbook 4 years ago?
please do send me an article of that! thanks

I edited my post.

Seriously, why are you still posting on those pages?

And why are you? At least I don't create useless threads, unlike you.

Seriously, some of you people need to chill. Every time someone posts a negative comment here or in another thread about the new MacBook, some of you get really defensive and call the poster a "troll". If you want to buy it, please do so. But this doesn't mean that you have to keep attacking people who criticize the nMB. These are called opinions and I'm pretty sure everyone is entitled to them. Gosh, I feel like some members here are lawyers for Apple.

I took me literally 2 clicks to get that.
I will stop replying to you as it waste my time. Have a nice day arguing with everyone.

Yes then you took a screenshot, and then uploaded it on an image hosting website, then replied to my post. And I'm pretty sure you checked out some of my threads after doing all that. Anyway, have a nice day to you too and keep calm and listen to Rick ....

Please, please, stop confusing this discussion with the facts. ;)

Most of us saw it this morning before it was marked private

How convenient;

who's to say that it wasn't even "invented" by someone on this forum. You just have no idea of things that are not only unofficial, but lacks any evidence of it ever being posted by a legit user.

Look at the existing benchmarks for the same model and SKU processor; that will give you the best idea of what the performance would be.

Define "terrible performance" please. Which programs have you run on the rMB and found didn't run properly?

Yep absolutely "on the money", no one knows outside of Apple presently. I have played with other Core Notebook`s and they are fine, equally not designed for "heavy lifting". They feel reasonably snappy & responsive, equally I wouldn't want to spend anytime with "Handbrake" on one.

My concerns are more on the GPU side, and same as everyone else I wont know one way or the other until the 10th plain and simple...

Q-6

Its benchmarks say more than enough

Bzzzzt. ;) Really, what do benchmarks tell us? How a standardized package of tasks compare across machines. If I sat around reading benchmarks, (1) I'd never get any real work done and (2) I'd be replacing each of my machines two or three times a year. Measurable? Sure? Meaningful? To some extent. Key purchasing factor? Not for me - YMMV.

If I got a 2008 MacBook, removed some weight and spray painted it gold, would you pay me $1300 for it? Lets do it! :)

Sure I would. If you decreased it's thickness to just over 1cm, made it out of better construction than my cracking plastic macbook, uses less power, put a much better screen on it, increase the battery life 10x, put a PCIe SSD in it and doubled the RAM, then I would pay $1300 for it.

My early 2008 macbook runs all the programs I use on it just fine. The problem is, it doesn't hold a charge, is too heavy, has a craptastic screen, and the plastic is cracking along the sides.
