If your male, and over 15, you shouldn't be using 'LOL' anyway.
original post

And if you're over 15, you probably shouldn't still be confusing "your" and "you're" either.
Hahahahahaha

I don't know what YOU'RE talking about.
seriously you shouldn't edit your post and then try to prove you did nothing wrong, be a man and own up to your mistake. He quoted you....

I guess it's a good thing he didn't get them wrong then, and obviously you did.
please explain how "if you're over 15" is wrong and "if your over 15" is the correct way?

I cannot stand the capitalized lol, it is so annoying that apple thinks iphone users are pre-teen dorks that like to over use the lol expression.

Classy. Edit your post and try to pretend it never happened. I think this deserves a LOL.

Easiest way is to create a contact 'lol' then it will autocorrect to be lowercase.

LOL is an acronym, not a word. Acronyms are always capitalized.

yeah good point and very true but people now associate text Acronyms in CAPS as having more emphasis than normal... for instance:

Whoa, person in front of me just farted. LOL

and

I just noticed I forgot my mail. lol

the emphasis on these text acronyms have taken a life of their own outside of grammar rules. Just like fanboy is now recognized as a word in the dictionary instead of fan boy with a space.

Like I said I don't use lol all the time and LOL gets to me because I see everyone use it online.

I thought I was the only one annoyed at this...And no the solution isnt to turn off auto correct; to whoever said that earlier. We shouldn't have to disable a entire feature to correct something...There needs to be a "learn" button!!!

There is a learn feature, if you type something like " Biatch " more than twice and X out the suggestive correction the iPhone will store the spelling next time you use it so it won't bother you with correcting it again and again.

For some reason the iPhone doesn't learn how to say "lol" instead of "LOL" though. There are those few words that they can't unlearn. I'm guessing these are the hardcoded ones. I can't turn off my auto-correction though because they stupid keyboard is too small and I mess up my words... A LOT! Landscape texting is FTW though! :)

This I did not know/ or notice...

Yea, there are definitely words or phrases that it wont "learn"

I have noticed that the iPhone does learn certain words after a while. When I first got the phone it would always suggest different words when I would try to text a slang or curse word. Eventually, my iPhone has learned to stop correcting them and saved me frustration and prevented me from getting carpel tunnel earlier by saving me a couple of clicks with my finger. However, I use "lol" a lot in my conversations and it has yet to pick up that I always deny the suggested correction "LOL". I wish their was a way to add or drop corrections. One clever work-around to this issue is to simply add the "lol" to the contact list. But this should not be the only acceptable fix to the problem... Apple, please add support to edit or delete or add corrections!

Instead of us hitting the tiny 'x' to disregard auto corrections in hopes of it getting remembered, Apple should simply add a auto correct dictionary in the settings like RIM does with the Blackberry. Makes everyone's life easier. It should be customizable with ease, IMO.

Going that route could open up lot's of possibilities for the users. Things like the ability to add new auto correct entries. That way I can type 'sig' and it changes it to my full signature I use for emails. Or type my initials and it corrects it to my full name.

Possibilities are endless.
