I and many people in this forum are dreaming of, and expecting a lot more than that....

A Significantly Higher Resolution Screen (I would like to see the higher end 15" MBPs with both a Blu Ray Drive and 1920×1200 Resolution, Even if OSX has to be upgraded to render bigger text and icons at that resolution)

I sincerely hope not. 1920x1200 on a 17" is already a little too high, so 1920x1200 on a 13" would be heading for dire straits. Even 1920x1200 on 15" would be extremely far too small, IMHO.

You state OSX could, theoretically, be coded to upscale the font sizes etc., but web graphics, text, raster graphics, and Flash could never be. To borrow Jobs' quote adapted for my own use, it'd just be one huge bag of hurt.

As a gamer you shouldn't be looking at a mac, end of story.

I sort of agree however at the same time, I'm only looking at Diablo III and frankly I'm wondering if that even will get a tentative release date in the near future.

Correct me if I'm wrong please. Glossy shows better colors and deeper blacks with sacrifice of reflections? Matte just doesn't reflect? If you opt for a Matte screen you can't ever have glossy without replacing half of your notebook. Now why not just buy a glossy and put matte film on the screen. This will protect the screen and get rid of your nasty reflections???

This was true when backlighting was CCFL lamp where matte looked washed out.

Ever since LED backlighting was implemented, I feel that the matte looks even more vivid. Something about matte with the led backlighting makes the colors and pictures pop out like looking at a real life comic book pages.

I need dedicated graphics. Matte would be nice, but as there's no other PC's in the industry with them these days, I'll have to go glossy. :(

Are you serious? There are laptops with LED's that have anti-glare standard such as the new Dell Vostro laptops.

False, I have been gaming on macs for several years now and its great.

My current macbook pro can run most current games on high settings with great fps(dragon age, lord of the rings online, fallout 3, oblivion, crysis etc).

I frequent many game forums and read about many people who's custom built PC's arent running these games as well as my macbook pro.

The industry is definitely moving in the mac direction as well. Valve, a huge force in the gaming industry, just announced that they are going to start releasing all of thier games for OSX as well.

I'm sorry but you're dreaming. There is no way that your MBP is running anything better than any PC built lately. Are you even running the games at native resolution? Somehow I doubt it.

Anyways for most games you'll need Windows, and the ones that have OS X versions will run worse than the Windows version.

But anyways, I would love a dedicated card on the 13", Matte screen sure. But what I want the most is higher res screen.

This is sort of a minor point, but just in case this information is useful to anyone, flash actually scales to different sizes very well. Many elements of flash animations are vector graphics and those scale to any size you want. But of course any bitmapped graphics and video embedded in flash scale as well/badly as other kinds of bitmapped graphics and video.

Which game would you like to see a video or screenshots of me running?

You honestly believe your macbook pro runs as good as a custom gaming system.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Even an 27 iMac or Mac Pro is nowhere close to a custom gaming system so what makes your macbook pro will. And games in OSX runs very slow.

Mac's are not for gaming. You need to boot to Windows which makes it exactly like every other PC's except that you are using a weak GPU ;)

Dream no longer. Check Vostro 3300. (13" matte, aluminum case, i5+310M and etc)

If MBP 13" sucks, it will make a lovely substitute.

Vostros are cheaply made latitudes. Get the real thing. The new latitude 13 will also share the adamo design but should be better built and have more options.

Oops... I did not realize you were referring to the 3300 not the v13. But more than likely there will be a latitude and precision model with better features and better constructed.

Sounds good to me...but I don't expect dedicated graphics, not at all. With how cramped the 13" is, I can't imagine there's room for dedicated graphics without either starting a fire or removing the Superdrive.
Then again, other 13 inch laptops do it...without the battery life and other shiny things, admittedly, but still...

I dint say as well as VERY GOOD custom PC's. My point was that my MBP can run most of todays games on high settings, and it can.

You are trying to tell me that with 4gigs of DDR3, a 2.8ghz processor, and 512mb graphics card I couldnt run games on high settings and get good performance?

Like I said before, I can run games like Dragon Age and Age of Conan on high settings no problem and will film it if I must.

There is no way a 13" MacBook Pro will ever get discrete graphics.

A matte screen is possible, but I can't see them adding much of anything except processor upgrades and a slight integrated GPU upgrade. There's really not that much room in the small case.

Maybe they should innovate and figure out how to put discrete graphics in that small case? In this industry, standing still means getting left behind. Just look at the 13" laptops that came out this year and what specs they have.

regarding the comment that the user's macbook pro runs better than custom built pc's:

1. there's a wide range of custom built pc's from 300$-5000$+ systems.

2. mac's are not known to be gaming rigs. valve games are finally coming to mac's after a decade hiatus

3. i can run my pentium 2 rig at max settings too, but im not gonna get 60fps.

4. don't be a fanboy

5. thanks

Yea, it can probably run most new games with high settings, low resolution, no AA, and achieve about 25 fps.

But don't kid yourself. There's no way that even the 9600M GT can possibly come anywhere close to any gaming PC built in the last 2 years. The Nvidia 8800 is almost 3 years old, yet it's at least over 2 times as powerful as the 9600M GT. Just think how the 9600M would compare to a new card such as the ATI 5870/5970. It will run so many rings around the 9600M you would probably lose count.

These cards will be able to play the same games with all settings at ultra high, full AA, maxium resolution, yet still easily churn out 60 fps.

What about the 11" alienware netbook? It has the fastest graphics card put currently in notebooks.

Why the Sony Vaio Z is better:
1) Bigger screen (13.1" vs 11")
2) Higher resolution (1920x1080 vs 1366x768)
3) Lighter weight (1.45kg vs 2.0kg)
4) Looks far better (I mean seriously, I'd be embarrassed to carry an Alienware laptop)
5) Newer CPUs (Core i5/i7 vs Core 2 Duo)
6) Double the clock speeds (2.6GHz vs 1.3GHz)

I was not trying to compare to the Z. I wanted to throw out a more extreme example of a small notebook with a powerful GPU. thats all.

Yea, I am always amused by how everyone and their mom thinks carbon fiber is the best material ever made

It is extremely brittle and will shatter.....there is no denting carbon fiber, only cracking

At least there won't be anymore posts from people whining about the tiny dents in their laptops anymore and will see Apple in a bad light when they fail to replace said dent.

On the first generation unibody macbook pro, I had that tiny little dent/chip on the edge.

It was so tiny that it didnt bother me but so far I've been through the 17" unibody macbook pro and the 13" unibody with no dent/chips and its perfect.

Anyway, for aluminum you might end up with a 1mm dent/chip or with carbon fiber it could come totally busted up. I'd rather have the tiny 1mm dent/chip.

I've owned a sony vaio TZ model and it was made of carbon fiber. I remember I had to be so delicate with it everytime I held it, basically felt like I was holding an egg.

Anyway it was a sweet ultraportable nonetheless, I used hackint0sh with it for 6 months before selling it. The xblack display was gorgeous.

hmm, i want a glossy 13", and don't care much about whether its got a dedicated card or uses the Arrandale graphics...but I REALLY want a better resolution, 1440x900, 1600x900 or better. Course, I plan to use my MBP for work primarily.
