The M11x doesn't have an optical drive, I believe, and it uses an ULV C2D processor. The Vaio Z, on the other hand, seems to be a valid comparison- but it costs like 900$ more than the base 13" MBP.

Did you miss this?

I was not trying to compare to the Z. I wanted to throw out a more extreme example of a small notebook with a powerful GPU. thats all.

I saw it, but I thought since kny3twalker was just trying to show the feasibility of dedicated graphics and all that, the M11x didn't really apply :)
My apologies for any misunderstanding

You are trying to tell me that with 4gigs of DDR3, a 2.8ghz processor, and 512mb graphics card I couldnt run games on high settings and get good performance?
.

the ammount og ram you gfx have does not really say anything about how fast it is. Ram on the gfx is mostly used for stuff like textures and such.

its like saying a computer with a p4 2.8 is with 16gb ram is super fast when in reality a modest c2d with 2 will out perform in allmost every scenario

yes! a 13" with matte option and better gpu.. I don't game at all but I want a good gpu for doing work on large external monitors.

it's stupid for apple to assume buyers of the smaller screen mbp doesnt require the same amount of power. A lot of poeple buy the mbp with smaller screen because they actually use it as a laptop and is easier to carry while travelling, but that doesnt mean they dont want the better graphic card etc...

apple should make all mbp have the same hardware spec/upgrade options, and not distinguish them based on screen size...
