But on launch day? Nah. Wait out at whatever -gate issues come out of it. It really doesn't make a difference to me getting one on release day vs two months later except the latter time could be out of stock or discounted. No smartphone during the last six years has ever excited me that much to get one on launch day.
I get more excited when I get them at a great price than early. Everyone will eventually get one. Early bird stuff don't mean much to me anymore. What ego trip am I fulfilling by being first to own one? Probably by early November I will pick one up if they are in stock.

This is a curious assumption to make.
Granted, I'm sure there are some people that do it as an ego thing ... probably a large intersection with the set of people that buy phones for how they look rather than what they do. But there are far, far more of us that like to get the phones right away because we're excited for the new performance, photo capabilities, features, etc.
It's not an ego thing. It's about having some joy and excitement over using the best tech toys out there, doing things with our devices we weren't able to do before. It's fun. That's not everyone's thing, obviously: you stand as a perfect counter-example. But just because there are many of us that do enjoy it, doesn't meant we're crowing on with some sort of ego-fueled psychosis.

I'm actually considering the Note 7, especially if the spec sheet turns out to be true.
You should stop buying Apple products. Everybody else’s spec sheet always looks better.
If you haven’t figured out by now that optimization is more important than pushing out big spec numbers then you probably never will.
Absolutely. Day one. I'm using the Apple Upgrade Program as I upgrade every year (selling on ebay has become just the worst experience for me so the Apple program is a God send) and I'm paying off the 12 months early so I can upgrade the day it comes out. I couldn't get my hands on an iPhone 6s Plus until November 2015 so it'll cost me at least $80 to upgrade but it'll be worth it.Just wondering.
Just watched a pocket now vid with the pro rumors. Rumor is pricing for plus/pro to be steep. Even 1300+ for people the 256 model. Yeesh. That's a lot to ask imo
I got my 6S plus on launch day last year and I'm hopping to get the 7 on launch day too. It depends on how the pre-orders go. I want to go for delivery this year not in store pick up.
I didn't use the upgrade program. I purchased my iPhone sim free last year and plan to do the same this year. However I've moved and now my nearest Apple Store is about 1 hour 30 minutes away and I have a newborn so I can't be going to the Apple Store on launch day. I need to get the delivery option.I believe they'll allow for the upgrade program to be used online. So no more of having to get to an Apple Store for that.
As we're on T-Mobile's Jump program, we'll like be updating. I think we'll be able to get the 32GB models so the cost should be minimum and we won't have to hassle with selling our 6s's. Ditto for next year. Maybe not day 1, though. It was a huge hassle last year and UPS left $1,300+ worth of new phones on our front step.
