TL;DR The phone’s dope.

I’ve owned every iteration of iPhone, save the 5 & 8. One thing has been unexpectedly clear in this first week with my 512 silver 17 Pro Max: it’s my favorite iteration yet.

Putting aside that this is my first PM…
I’ve been surprised how good the device feels in-hand. The slightly rounded corners of the aluminum chassis make more of a difference than you might imagine. It somehow feels both thinner and lighter than my 16 Pro (which isn’t true). It’s not nearly as unruly as I thought it might be and is still fairly pocketable (tho def bigger than 16 Pro). The screen brightness in outdoor conditions is fantastic. The device doesn’t get near his hot as my 16 Pro. The battery is dumb. I pulled it off the charger this morning at 5 AM. 12 hrs later, the battery has 67% remaining with typical use. Again, dumb. The cameras are killer. Typically, I rarely use the front-facing camera. The new square sensor makes that camera way more functional. I might actually use it now. The larger screen makes my softening eyes happy. The silver finish is so fresh. Feels like a retro take on the OG device. The plateau is SO MUCH BETTER than the previous corner bump. No more surface wobble. Idk… I’m not yet seeing much to complain about - which is prob good. There’s enough of that out there anyway. Cheers.

Still deciding between the Air and Pro. I absolutely love the Air and even though I use my phone very little my decision boils down to;

When I do pickup my phone do I want it to do everything or am I okay with the basics?

On the rare occasion I need a 4x lens is it better to have it or not? Or the one day I’m at an event or traveling where I’m running low on battery life, do I want to worry about that? There’s something to be said for not having to worry about when you use your phone regardless of how often. After all, the one time you need something and it’s missing is the moment you forget all the positives and focus on the negative.
I’m thrilled with my 17 base. So much better than the brick 16pro. Just my old man opinion.

Pleased with my 17 Pro Max up from the 15 Pro Max. I don't really notice anything different day to day, doesn't feel any faster and I never struggled for battery. Cameras are nice in the limited usage I've had though.

I went with the orange colour, decided to be a little less conservative this year 😆 That's the biggest change I notice to be honest. Looking forward to getting my AirPods Pro 3.

I’m happy with it, apart from the mono speaker. Hopefully the Air 2 will fix that.
Now that the 17 PM has settled down from indexing/app upgrading it is just superb.

The 17 PM is a big improvement over the 16 PM in daily usage. The cameras are better and work together much more smoothly. A surprising thing was just how much better the speakers on my 17 PM are than the speakers on my 16 PM were. Could be just sample variation, but these speakers perform much better (I listen to audiobooks a lot) than my 16 PM. As others have observed, it runs cooler, always a good thing.

Cellular connectivity and sound are much improved 17 PM over 16 PM; again, it could be just sample variation.

Overall the 17 PM clearly is stronger performing and clearly is smoother operating than my 16 PM was. And the 16 PM was an excellent phone. Apple hit it out of the park with the 17 PM.

I love my new 17 Pro Max. I upgraded from a 12 Pro Max, and I didn't realize my camera wasn't working properly until I took several pictures with the 17. The images from the 12 Pro Max were fuzzy, and the colors were off by a mile. I couldn't even scan my driver's license into Wallet with the 12 Pro Max, but the 17 Pro Max scanned both sides without an issue.

I honestly can't tell the Air has a single speaker.

Compared to my 16 Pro, the Air has much more screen speaker design where the sound comes from the entire screen whereas the Pro speakers are definitely coming from the edges.
